Did you know? 💊 In 1928, Alexander Fleming accidentally discovered penicillin. After returning to the lab after a weekend away, Fleming noticed mold growing on a Petri dish of Staphylococcus bacteria. He observed that the mold prevented the bacteria around it from growing — which he identified as penicillin. 🦠 Fleming’s serendipitous discovery led to the development of the world’s first antibiotic. To date, penicillin is estimated to have saved 200 million lives. 🧬
