JFCS of Long Beach & Orange County

JFCS of Long Beach & Orange County The vision of JFCS is a community healed, one person, one family at a time.

Our mission is to empower people to make positive changes through professional, affordable counseling and social services. We serve everyone in the entire community, without regard for religion, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, disability, or sexual orientation. JFCS is the only agency in Long Beach/South Bay/Orange County area that serves the entire life cycle, ages 4-104, on a sliding fee scale. We work with individuals, couples, families to address a wide range of issues including depression, anxiety, loss, trauma, anger, grief, and stress. We offer the comfort of knowing that one need not face life's challenges, or celebrate life's victories, alone.

Today, January 27, we observe International Holocaust Remembrance Day, marking the anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau. 🕯️

We honor the memory of the six million Jews and millions of others lost to N**i persecution. At JFCS, we are privileged to walk alongside our local community of survivors and their descendants in Long Beach and Orange County.

It is our honor to ensure that every survivor has the resources and support to live with dignity and comfort. By preserving their stories and remembering the past, we commit to a future of compassion and courage.

May the memory of those lost be a blessing. 🕊️

The holiday season can be as overwhelming as it is wonderful, and it’s all too easy for our mental health to take a back seat. If the festivities are feeling a little extra chaotic, our team is here to help. ✨

We’re showcasing our elite team of four-legged best friends—Maisie, Bailey, Charlie, Sparkle, and Harley—to bring season cheer for all to hear! 🐾

Let these happy faces be a reminder that it’s okay to step away from the noise and just be present with your pet. They really are the masters of mindfulness!

Sending peace, love, and paws to our entire community. 🎁💙

As we light our candles tonight, our hearts hold both the joy of the Festival of Lights and the profound grief over the weekend's tragic terrorist attack in Bondi Beach, Sydney.

Chanukah is a story of resilience—a small light enduring in overwhelming darkness. In times of pain and heartbreak, this holiday reminds us that even the smallest flame can push back the shadows.

May this light serve as a visual reminder to honor your own mental health and inner strength today. With all of the awful news, please know that JFCS is here for you. We encourage you or your loved ones to reach out for counseling support.

We grieve the innocent lives lost and stand in solidarity with the community. We light this candle for hope, for peace, and for the strength to keep shining for
ourselves and each other.

Wishing you a bright, safe, and meaningful Chanukah. Take care of your light.
🕯️ Shine on.

The best kind of unexpected office visit! 🖼️

We were deeply touched to host the Kulakli and Yeskova Ukrainian families ahead of Thanksgiving. The Yeskova family, both professional artists, gifted us one of their original works as a token of their gratitude.

We first met them during a very challenging period, but today, they are calm, confident, have received all their documents, and are preparing for an exciting personal exhibition in Orange County!

Thank you for allowing us to be a part of your journey. Wishing them all the best with their exhibition! 🫶

🧡 Last week was powered by community, gratitude, and hachnasat orchim (welcoming the stranger)! 🧡 We were busy building community through friendship, art, and service ahead of the holidays!

Here’s the JFCS weekly wrap:

🎨 Art of Thankfulness: We kicked things off with the "Art of Thankfulness" workshop! Ukrainian newcomers and volunteers shared stories, learned about Thanksgiving/Friendsgiving, and created beautiful painted gourds that will decorate our dinner tables. We also learned about the traditional Ukrainian dish, Kutya—a beautiful symbol of new beginnings!

🍽️ Friendsgiving Feast: In partnership with a number of our community agencies, we held our wonderful Annual Friendsgiving Dinner lasst Sunday. This special event brings togeter JFCS refugee clients and the donors and volunteers who support them. It was a beautiful celebration of welcome and community!

📦 Packing Power: We teamed up with Performance Plus Tires to help box groceries and meals for over 500 Long Beach families right before the holidays.

Thank you to every volunteer, donor, artist, and participant who made this week so meaningful! 🙌 Let’s keep building community together!
