JFCS of Long Beach & Orange County

JFCS of Long Beach & Orange County The vision of JFCS is a community healed, one person, one family at a time.

Our mission is to empower people to make positive changes through professional, affordable counseling and social services. We serve everyone in the entire community, without regard for religion, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, disability, or sexual orientation. JFCS is the only agency in Long Beach/South Bay/Orange County area that serves the entire life cycle, ages 4-104, on a sliding fee scale.

We work with individuals, couples, families to address a wide range of issues including depression, anxiety, loss, trauma, anger, grief, and stress. We offer the comfort of knowing that one need not face life's challenges, or celebrate life's victories, alone.

We are excited to share this episode of PeppTalks with Jeanne Pepper featuring our CEO, Trip Oldfield!

Join Trip and Jeanne Pepper as they discuss how JFCS provides a crucial safe haven for students through our on-site support in low-income schools. By giving students a dedicated space to openly discuss challenging issues like bullying, we are working together to foster deeper understanding and empathy in the next generation.

This past Sunday, JFCS alongside Jewish Long Beach, celebrated resilience and community at our annual Café Europa.

Community members gathered to honor the incredible Holocaust survivors in our community, alongside their descendants and families. Coinciding with Yom HaShoah, it was a meaningful afternoon filled with reflection and connection.

Between the delicious lunch, candle lighting, and the moving words from our presenters, the room was filled with warmth and a shared spirit of remembrance.

During Volunteer Appreciation Month, we want to highlight their latest efforts: working directly with our refugee clients to build community and provide support!

Here’s a glimpse of what we’ve been up to:
● Connecting: We’ve shared laughter and language at our Speaking Club. 🗣️
● Wellness & Gearing Up: A huge thank you to Howard H. for leading an impactful
● Ukrainian Wellness Workshop. Alongside volunteers Beth and Arvin K., Arlene P., and Cheryl who helped coordinate putting together essential backpacks for our clients! 🎒
● Planning: Our latest Refugee Volunteer meeting was filled with bright, caring faces like Cheryl C., Jeanne S., Jenn W., Lise S., Nancy N., Joanna I., Sue K., and Gale D. (shoutout to our staff Trip, Jackie, and Katie for the support!).

We are so grateful for this team and look forward to continuing to support the community together!

Our incredible volunteers have been working hard assembling and delivering these special Shabbat Baskets to Holocaust survivors across Long Beach. 🧺

From ensuring each survivor can celebrate with dignity to providing a warm connection to the community, these volunteers truly put the "Service" in JFCS.

We are so grateful for the heart you put into every delivery! 💙

This past Saturday, an amazing volunteer helped us package Passover bags to be delivered to Holocaust survivors in our community. 🔯

Passover is a season of remembrance, but also a season of connection. We are honored to bridge the generations and bring the joy of the holiday to those who remind us every day of the strength of the human spirit. ✨
