Sometimes we grow very attached to people, pets, situations, ideas, or things. As a result, we may become rather fearful of “losing” them in one way or another. Change, especially but not only when unplanned, can also be perceived as a loss. Even though this is normal in our human existence, it can still feel very scary and painful, potentially leading to suffering. What to do?
First, we want to accept what “is,” make peace with it and ourselves given whatever role we have played in it. We may need to create some “distance” between ourselves and “it” (the fear) so you don’t just feel lost in it. It’s ok to feel your feelings as they are here for a reason, as guidance to show you how aligned with your true self you are or not. It is helpful to take it as just that, feedback/information, like traffic signals (stop signs, green light, red light, speed bumps, rumble strips, etc.), without judgment as this is part of loving awareness.
EFT does just that as it allows the fears to come up, not just for the sake of feeling them but to bring that loving awareness to them and yourself, allowing the fear vibrational associations with the projected loss to be transmuted so you can feel more at peace with the possible change that you had been fearing. Remember, it’s not just ok but can be extremely helpful to cry, scream, move, and breathe as you release old vibrational patterns that no longer serve you so much now and thus wish to modify. Energy wants to move and emotions are energy that wants to flow freely in our body when it comes up. Tapping simply allows that natural process to happen more easily as you release resistance.
