There are moments that remind us why we do what we do at Mom & Dad’s House. Recently, our Long Beach home was filled with the breathtaking melodies of the Griffin String Quartet from Los Alamitos High School.

These talented students didn’t just give us a concert; they gave us a beautiful day of intergenerational connection, laughter, and pure kindness.

✨ 𝗔 𝗠𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗣𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻
The highlight of the day happened behind the scenes. When one student heard that a resident in hospice care couldn't leave her bed to join the group, they went directly to her room. In a quiet, intimate moment, they offered her a private serenade, ensuring she felt the beauty of the music and the warmth of being included.

It wasn't just about the notes; it was about the heart behind them. ❤️

A heartwarming Valentine’s Day celebration united two generations as preschoolers from Little Red Playhouse visited residents at Mom & Dad’s House Assisted Living in Long Beach. The children arrived with handmade Valentine’s cards, sang songs about love and friendship, shared hugs, and listened to residents’ stories. Residents returned the affection with handmade crafts and homemade brownies, transforming a simple holiday visit into a joyful, meaningful exchange filled with laughter, music, and connection.
The visit highlighted the powerful impact of intergenerational engagement. “For our residents, many of whom are living with memory challenges, moments like these are deeply therapeutic,” said Ivonne Meader, Administrator of Mom & Dad’s House. Research supports these benefits, showing reduced social isolation for seniors and improved empathy and emotional development in children. Inspired by the success of this visit, the organizations are already planning a follow-up Easter gathering, continuing their shared commitment to compassion, dignity, and community connection.
