To ensure the dignity, well-being and health of school students, all children and adolescents should have access to items and opportunities to maintain personal hygiene in school settings. Each student should have access to clean, appropriately maintained restrooms consistent with their gender identity that are equipped with suitable supplies (including but not limited to soap, towels, toilet paper, menstrual products). In addition, each student should have confidential access to age-appropriate items of personal hygiene (including but not limited to deodorant and menstrual products).

Hygiene First offers hygiene vending machines to schools, where students can vend products for FREE. We would encourage schools to partner with us by renting one of our machines today.

Hygiene EQUITY is a real thing. Underfunded communities / families are feeling the effects of this looming recession. If your a one or two parent household that makes less than 50k a year, then you may be making compromising decisions like:
✅ Do we buy food?
✅ Do I fill up my tank
✅ How can we share a BAR OF SOAP, etc…

These examples are just to name a few; however, they DO affect your mental, self-worth, and so much more. Now, imagine you’re a minor who has no say on how the money is spent.
These youth could be relying on the school for support.

We're hosting a ribbon-cutting ceremony for a High School in Inglewood, CA on September 30th, 11:30-12 pm for a hygiene machine we have installed.

Governor Gavin Newsom (signed a law in 2021 (AB367), where schools are now required to stock the restrooms with feminine hygiene pads from grades 6th -college. My company Hygiene First has been hosting hygiene workshops globally, but mainly in LA (since this is our city), but we now offer hygiene vending machines for specific places (schools, shelters, etc...).

Why are periods stigmatized?

Because of social taboo and gender stereotypes that stigmatize menstruation as dirty, many people experience menstruation with shame and without access to the resources needed to manage their menstrual health safely,” she said. “Menstruation is a human rights issue. It is also a public health and development issue.

Menstrual awareness is important, which is why we will be kicking off our “Hygiene First” campaign for the month of September.

AB 367 will require all public schools serving students in grades 6 to 12, Community Colleges, & California State Universities (CSU's) to stock restrooms with an adequate supply of free menstrual products, commencing in the 2022-23 school year.

Hygiene First is a GREAT community partner, as we offer hygiene workshops and now hygiene vending machines. You can place your menstrual products in our machines and vend for FREE. That’s right, the menstrual pads offered can be monitored through our machines so you can better budget for your future cost.

Most girls start their periods when they're about 12, but they can start as early as 8, so it's important to talk to girls from an early age to make sure they're prepared. Respond to questions or opportunities as they arise and do not be embarrassed. Periods are natural!
