Family & Children's Service - FCS FCS is the oldest, private nonprofit social service agency in Monmouth County, NJ and a leading volunteer organization.

FCS is Monmouth County's oldest, private, nonprofit social service agency, providing compassionate care, education and intervention to people during challenging times. We administer programs including: Adult Protective Services, Healthy Buddies, Home Care Assistance, JACC (Jersey Cares), Operation Sleighbells, Reading Buddies, Representative Payee, RSVP (Retired and Senior Volunteer Program), Statewide Respite Care, SHIP (State Health Insurance Assistance Program). All of our programs and services are intended to strengthen, protect and preserve the dignity and independence of people in need.

Once again, it is time to celebrate the FCS Leading Lights Gala which will be held on October 17, 2025 at Shore Car Club, an exciting new venue in Ocean Township. The Gala is our largest fundraising event and helps to support our many programs which serve thousands of individuals and families in our community.

Each year at the Gala we recognize volunteers and organizations who have gone above and beyond in helping FCS and our clients. This year, we are proud to honor Mr. Ryan Gillaspie of Alliant, and Ms. Courtlyn Crosson and Mr. Erich Reulback of Coffee Corral. These honorees have helped sustain the work of the agency for many years and have been strong advocates for those we serve.

The seniors in the FCS Home Care Program are on fixed incomes, dealing with chronic health issues, and are unable to consistently access adequate nutrition. These clients are homebound, and they are low income, vulnerable, and often are without family and exter-nal resources. Unfortunately, they are often dealing with empty refrigerators and pantries when we visit them.

We have seen the neediest become more and more indigent over the past year with the increased cost of living putting even more finan-cial constraints on them. The need for external support has increased dramatically.

Thank you to Fulfill for our monthly delivery that allows FCS home health aides to bring pantry staples and fresh produce to our clients.

Our Story

Our extraordinary story begins in 1909 when a group of concerned Long Branch citizens took action to improve the living conditions of their neighbors in need. Their original promise, to help children and families facing challenging times, remains our Mission. Today FCS provides compassionate care, intervention and education to more than 9,000 people in Monmouth County and beyond. We guard vulnerable adults from abuse, neglect and financial exploitation. We prevent homelessness in at-risk populations. We provide home care, respite care and support services to frail, elderly and disabled individuals who want to continue living at home. We counsel seniors about their Medicare options. And we engage hundreds of adult volunteers in programs that enrich their lives and promote the health and well-being of children and families in our communities.
