Long Hill will have an inclusive holiday display this season (and into next year). Here is a fundraiser for a menorah to be dispalyed in the middle of Stirling- in the park by the train station. Fundraisers for other holidays will follow. It is important to the growth and prosperity of our town that residents and visitors feel welcome. Having their traditions reflected in displays in town is one small way of doing that. This is being organized by local residents who wants all our neighbors to feel at home. Please donate and share!

Thanks to the hard work of many members of the Long Hill comm… LH Jewish Community needs your support for Add a Menorah to Long Hill's Inclusive Holiday Display!

According to Rep. Kean there are lots of federal $$ for things like moving police stations, upgrading water infrastructure and renovating recreational facilities. Scotch Plains and Raritan got over $2 million each for relocation and upgrades of emergency services facilities. See below (emergency services projects cirlcled in red, water infrastructure in blue and recreation in green).

Remember the emergency responder radios that were the topic of much discussion about 2 years ago? The person who is in charge of that system is expected to become Long Hill's new Director of Public Saftey. He will be paid over $200k/year and will have an executive assistant who will receive over $100k/year. He currently has another job with MRI (per the company website).

Isn't it great that this race is routed through Hick's Tract? Wouldn't it be even better if the whole race could be run on an interconnected townwide trail system?

🚧TRAFFIC ALERT🚧

Tomorrow, February 10, 2024, SuperHero Racing will be hosting a 10 mile/5k race that will cause brief, intermittent traffic delays between 9:00am and 11:30am.

Long Hill Road between Oaks Road and Central Avenue will be closed within these hours due to the event. The route may affect portions of other roads in town for a brief period of time. Detours will be implemented where necessary.

Officers will be on scene to assist with traffic and residents within the closure can get to their homes. Please plan ahead and take an alternate route.

A bill to require native plants on landscaping projects on federal property was discussed by Congresswoman Mikie Sherrill at an event in Chatham
"Supporters of the bill say plans native to a region are crucial to the food supply and more importantly, retain stormwater that otherwise could flood nearby neighborhoods.

That’s crucial. Sherrill said that her district, which includes parts of Morris, Passaic and Essex counties, is the most flood prone in the state"

A bill prohibiting the sale of invasive plant species was recently vetoed by Gov Murphy.

Long Hill has no ordinances requiring native plants.

CHATHAM TOWNSHIP – Mikie Sherrill told a story Thursday about plans to commemorate the nation’s 250th anniversary in two years. The CD-11 congresswoman spoke of plans at Jockey Hollow, which is part of Morristown National Historical Park, to plant the same vegetation that was on the site during ...

Tonight the LHT Committee will be voting on adding a "Director of Public Safety" at a salary of up to $235,000. There will also be an executive assistant to report to the person in this new position for another $100,000 +. The director of public safety will only be overseeing the police department. They will not have any authority over OEM, fire or first aid. This is considerably more than similar positions in major cities in NJ who are responsible for police, fire, first aid and emergency management. Other towns in NJ fill this position by either appointing the mayor or a member of the Township Committee.
