Hello my name is Sarah Venzara! I am a mother, student midwife, educator and doula with over 15 years of labor and postpartum care experience. I found my calling to birth work in 2004 while volunteering at a birth center in the Philippines where I witnessed many mothers birth their babies naturally surrounded by caring midwives. Two months later I started working as a postpartum doula then became a certified labor doula with CAPPA in 2007. While attending National College of Midwifery, I apprenticed with a midwife for two years until I had my first child in June 2009. In the years since I have birthed all three of my own children naturally under midwifery care and have continued to serve my local birthing community teaching, volunteering, and consulting. Last year I returned to my studies, apprenticing under two amazing midwives in Boulder.
This year I founded “Doula At Your Door Inc.” with the intention of empowering mothers to use their deep innate abilities as a guide for parenting decisions and for postpartum mothers to feel held, safe, and nourished during this new season of life. We are currently offering educational, emotional, and physical support for labor and birth. For postpartum care I provide: basic breastfeeding support, newborn care, birth processing, “closing of the bones” ceremonies, and warming treatments (sitz baths, herbal baths, yoni steams, moxibustion) to ensure rest and recovery. I also mentor a team of student doulas who can help with other tasks such as laundry, dishes, light housework, pet care, sibling care, etc.
In addition to labor and postpartum doula services we also offer a weekly delivery of meals prepared with nourishment for the postpartum mother and newborn in mind. Stay tuned for more information and visit www.DoulaAtYourDoor.com to join our mailing list.
