In the Longmont Area today? Lend a hand and help a neighbor out. Longmont Climbing Collective had a hard hit December 19th, the winds significantly damaging their roof. The cost of this will fall heavily on LCC, a place that creates community for so many.

LCC is also set to host the Ice Climbing World Cup in February, another gift to the Longmont community-- bringing thousands of visitors to Longmont. Without help LCC won't be ready for that event.

TODAY: Help with clean-up 11am- 4pm. Get those hands a little dirty and celebrate the real meaning of the holidays. A free 5-punch pass might also be available:)

Over 350,000 children and youth are in foster care.18,500 a year are emancipated from parents without a permanent home. 77% leave care without receiving federally funded services to prepare them for adulthood and independent living.

Connecting youth to supports to help them thrive is LIFE CHANGING. GED preparation, career counseling, mentoring, volunteer opportunities, life skills classes, these are supports that might become critical when children and youth arrive at their 18th birthday.

If you interact with children and youth in foster care, remember how powerful your words are. They already believe something is wrong with them; what they don't know is that it's not their fault. What they need is someone to believe in them. Commit to believing. Commit to mentoring, to encouraging them to take opportunities. Invest in their success.

Thank you to all the foster families, caseworkers and CASA that surround these kiddos. You are heros!
