Exciting news from CU College of Nursing! The college is expanding midwifery education with a new Master of Science in Midwifery program: https://zurl.co/AnWYT

The program was approved by the CU Board of Regents and is designed for students without a nursing degree to become midwives. We are thrilled to see CU Nursing working to make the profession more accessible and to increase access to midwifery care.

The University of Colorado Anschutz College of Nursing is expanding its midwifery education a new master of science in midwifery program.

Happy Fall! Please stop by and say hello at our last nursing nook for the Longmont Farmers Market this season. We are located at the south end of the market, across from some yummy pastries and apple cider.

We love seeing our former clients and their growing babies as well as new folks interested in midwifery care or donating human milk. We have a comfy space to sit and nurse, answer questions and catch up. We'll be there from 8am to 1pm.

Looking forward to seeing you!

Happy World Breastfeeding Month!

Did you know that your body makes milk according to your baby’s caloric needs? This means that sometimes, when your baby is going through a growth spurt, they will nurse all the time. It can be normal in those moments to feel like you don’t have enough milk and this is why your baby is nursing so frequently. But if you forget about the clock and just feed your baby when they ask for it, your body will realize that they need more milk and will make it!

"I still remember sitting on the sofa with my firstborn 26 years ago, with my very sore ni***es, thinking, “oh no, he wants to nurse again already!”. I followed his lead and everything worked out. Breastfeeding can be hard, so reach out to your midwives for support and resources. We can help!"
-Ana Williams, CU Center for Midwifery-Longmont Lead & Senior Instructor for .

Making milk for your baby is an incredible feat. We often talk about the benefits for babies, that they will get sick less often, get well quicker, and be protected from illness in the short and long term, but did you know that it also protects YOUR long term health?

Breastfeeding reduces your risk of breast and ovarian cancers, diabetes, heart disease and obesity. Immediately following birth, it helps your uterus to contract so you don’t bleed excessively.

The best part, breastfeeding makes you release oxytocin, the love hormone, which is relaxing and makes you feel good while you bond with your baby! Breastfeeding can also be overwhelming, especially in the beginning, but also months into it. Your midwives are here to support you and provide you with resources. Please reach out if you have questions or need help.
