As a significant part of culture, music has the power to affect people's health and well-being in a variety of ways, touching on different domains of health. Because of this, people at every phase of life can respond to, and benefit from, music.

This workshop is geared towards behavioral health providers who would like to better understand how music can benefit their clients.

In this workshop, you'll:

Gain a comprehensive understanding of how music impacts people biopsychosocially.

Identify ways that music can both trigger and treat within the realm of behavioral health treatment.

Examine ways that they can incorporate music into their work within their scope of practice.

Recognize situations where consulting with or referring to a qualified music therapist may be warranted.

I'll be offering this online workshop through the Colorado School for Family Therapy, on Saturday, July 27th from 8:30 am - 3:30 pm (MST).

Culture plays an important role in our sense of identity, and as such, it can influence us in a variety of ways - including on our sense of health and well-being.

As a therapist, I value the role that culture plays in the lives of those with whom I work. Because of this, I strive to practice cultural humility and to provide culturally competent care.

In this blog post, I explore the importance of culturally competent care and music therapy. https://soundwellmusictherapy.com/music-therapy-as-a-culturally-competent-practice/

Racism remains a serious problem in the United States. As a result, the overt and covert racism experienced by people of color can have a negative impact on their mental health and well-being. In this blog post, I examine the trauma of racism and identify ways that music therapy can help in healing.

Sometimes life requires the outside support that counseling services can provide. This is because, regardless of how old you are, everyone faces stressors in life. Likewise, we all have life experiences that affect how we manage challenging situations. If whatever is going on in your life right now feels like too much to handle alone, know that SoundWell Music Therapy in Longmont can help you.

My name is Faith Halverson-Ramos and I am SoundWell Music Therapy in Longmont. I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor and Board-Certified Music Therapist (MT-BC). As a music therapist, I find that music can be a powerful means for helping people to enhance their mental well-being.
