The goal of taking a bath after your massage is to encourage the body to continue to relax and recover. Low heat relaxes the muscle fibers and promotes circulation, which in turn supports your lymphatic system (your body's natural detoxification system).

By adding Epsom Salts to a bath you introduce magnesium, which supports your body's muscle functions.

Don't have a bath tub? You can access these same benefits by taking a warm shower and looking for a magnesium massage oil.

Did you know that your muscle tissue is softer after receiving a massage? This softening lasts about 24 hours, so strenuous exercise may pull or move the tissue and cause more pain or discomfort.

It's important to move gently after a massage and give your muscles time to adapt to the work that has been done. Gentle Stretching can be helpful for maintaining and restoring mobility, while moderate movement, like walking, can help to promote healthy circulation. Combine this with hydration and a warm soak in an epsom salt bath for best results!

The benefits and effects of your massage don't end when your session does. If you want to get the most our of your treatment, it's important to drink water after your massage for a few reasons:

💧 Massage promotes blood flow circulation, which consumes water. You'll want to replenish these fluid and prevent dehydration.

💧💧 Massage enhances your lymphatic flow which in turn stimulates your body's natural detox systems. Drinking water will help to flush out any waste that may have been mobilized by your session.

💧💧💧 Similar to exercise, massage may result in muscle micro-tears. While this is normal and safe, it may lead to the feeling of soreness. Drinking water supports the muscle's natural ability to repair itself.

💧💧💧💧 As we shared, massage promote blood flow circulation. Drinking water after your session helps to maintain this improved circulation and carry oxygen and nutrients through your system.

The choice between a 60-minute and a 90-minute massage depends on your individual goals, budget, and time constraints. If you’re new to massage or have limited availability, a 60-minute session can provide many benefits. However, if you have the opportunity and desire for an extended and more comprehensive massage experience, a 90-minute session might be the right choice!
