It’s so easy in a society where we’re socially conditioned to be critical of our bodies, to be hyper-aware of them & put ourselves down.

My mom took a pic of me the other day and I asked her to delete it because I didn’t like how my body looked. It actually spiraled me to a point where I started to cry.

And then my crying changed from being upset about me to just pi**ed that we live in a world where I’m told to feel crappy about my body, in particular during this season where I just created and carried a life, then birthed her and now have the majority of my energy going to keeping her alive and thriving.

I’ve honestly struggled with having a passion for fitness and wanting to help others, but never wanting myself or anyone to feel as if they have to do it to change their bodies.

I’ll be honest— I’m not personally comfortable in my body with the weight I’m at and that is a factor in why I workout... but I don’t look at the scale purposely because it’s not about a number.

It is a daily, intentional practice to check in with my emotions and the words I speak to myself each day around a healthy lifestyle.

GOODBYE TO:
“I’m gross so I need to change.”
“I should be hyper-critical if what I eat so I can look like x, y, z.”
And the comparison game— “she just had a baby three months ago and look at her”, or “she has the dream body I want.”

HELLO TO:
“I deserve to take care of my mental and physical wellbeing for even just 30 mins a day.”
“This body is a gift and we’re here NOW, I want to practice my gratitude for what it does for me each day.”
“You are seriously beautiful. Because you’re you, no one else. Her body is hers and it’s different from yours. That’s beautiful. Differences are gorgeous. Isn’t that part of what makes life so beautiful?”
“I’m going to eat the veggie and fruits because I know they’re good for my health AND I’m going to eat pizza 🍕 too, because I love pizza and that’s totally okay.”

Where do I find my true contentment and happiness? Not in how the world says I should look— that brings anxiety and overwhelm— but rather, what’s beautiful to ME? Can I look at that beautiful, strong woman in the mirror, see what she’s done in her life & where she hopes to go, and love her, every day?
❤️❤️❤️

Yesterday, I posted a challenge in our virtual gym.⁣

I suggested that we STOP 🛑 beating ourselves up & criticizing ourselves so much!!⁣

More than anyone else, sometimes we can be the hardest on ourselves. And that seriously sucks!! 😫⁣

We should be loving & pouring into ourselves just as much as we love and pour into the people around us 💕💕⁣

I’m sure you’ve heard it before, but it makes me think— would you talk to your best friend the way you talk to yourself? ⁣

This week was a funky week. And I’m not going to lie, I was mentally beating myself up a bit... ⁣

SO. Here’s the challenge— grab a sticky note or a dry erase marker to write on a mirror, write it in your planner, or wherever you will see it EVERY DAMN DAY. ⁣

Write down three affirmation statements or sentences about YOU to YOU. And then repeat them to yourself every day. Even if you don’t believe it at first. Take those 30 seconds to pause & read the statements to yourself.⁣

Because even if you don’t believe them today, the more you repeat them, the more you will begin to believe them! 🌱🌱 ⁣

You can do this over and over with as many statements as you want. Just try to start telling yourself some positive things about YOU! ⁣

Your mind will go where you allow it, your mind will feed off of what you give it, so let’s give it some good stuff to use ♥️

There’s something magic ✨ about women gathering in a space where we can be open and real with one another. ⁣

There’s something almost spiritual about the woman energy & spirit coming together to support, to share wisdom, & to provide guidance and love. ⁣

For me personally, that’s something that my pregnancy and postpartum journey has really solidified for me— the beauty and importance of the relationships we women have with one another and how SACRED being a woman is (whether you’re a mother or not)! ⁣

And COVID has given me more gratitude and appreciation for the community I have in my life and how important those relationships are to me. ⁣

Side note— can we talk about how weird it is to navigate 2020?? And how wild it’ll be to look back at pictures like this one day, distancing with masks on? Kinda eerie! What a time. @ Longmont, Colorado

You’d think coaching would be about helping others navigate their journey...⁣

And it is, for sure... But, I never would have predicted that coaching OTHERS would be more about MY journey first & foremost!⁣

Here’s the thing— I signed up to coach at the same time I signed up for my first workout & nutrition program and quickly found out that it made all the difference in holding me accountable to my goals! 🔥🔥⁣

Because how can you help someone on their journey if you’re not helping yourself?⁣

And honestly, coaching doesn’t mean I’ve got it all figured out— coaching represents a commitment to a lifelong journey of learning + personal development and going on that journey with others!! ⁣

It’s also had the added benefit of helping me to grow in my journey as a leader with my managing job at Target 🎯, so really, it’s been a game changer for every part of my life!⁣

Personal development + consistent learning + physical and mental transformation = LOVE for life!!

Why are we so hard on ourselves?⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Why is “good enough” not good enough?⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Anyone else struggle with perfectionism? 🙋‍♀️⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Don’t let that voice in your head today tell you you’re not enough or that you have to do it all.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Deep inhale. Take a breath. And again. And again. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
You’re exactly where you need to be right now & you’re doing great. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
You don’t have to do everything. You don’t have to bet everything for everyone. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Embrace the imperfection and embrace you— all your quirks, awkward moments, and the humanness of it all. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
You are enough. Yesterday, today, & tomorrow. ⁣

PS throwback photo to when we could travel and not think twice about it. ♥️♥️

What does your daily self-care look like? 👀 ⁣

Did that question make you stop for a second? ⁣

Did you start thinking about all the reasons you don’t have time, money, space, etc. in your life for self-care? ⁣

Self-care has become this “buzz” word where maybe you think of massages & skin care regimens & bubble baths... And those are great...⁣

But I’m talking about how you’re pouring into yourself EVERY day to grow & continue becoming the best you?? 🧐⁣

Because here’s the truth— I’d argue that you can’t truly, healthily show up for other people in your life, you can’t be truly fulfilling your goals, & you can’t be truly loving yourself if you aren’t practicing self-care/personal development...⁣

And if you don’t know where to start or how, shoot— reach out to me! ➡️➡️ ⁣

It is a journey of always learning & I’ll never claim to be done or know it all (because I don’t and no one does!)...⁣

BUT I have some ideas of where you can start because it’s places I started that I’ve found have helped me & I’d love to give that gift to you ♥️♥️

Some beautiful mountain air was just what we needed ⛰ Got to spend some time outside after our midwife appointment last week & I’m still dreaming about it. Does anyone else feel like they can breathe, like REALLY breathe, when they get into the mountains? There’s something magic ✨ about being there.

Could you imagine thousands of people coming together in a street, just to workout?⁣

A few years ago, I would’ve said “no” to that question... Now, having witnessed it, I know it’s a thing and beyond that— it reaches not only our coach community, who flood a street in whatever city we’ve gathered in, early, early in the morning, but the surrounding community as well!! 🔥🔥⁣

You’re invited, whether you’re a coach or not, & we’ve had people in the surrounding neighborhoods, choose to jump in & join in every city we’ve been to. 💛⁣

The energy is contagious— the positive spirit, the community vibes, & the accessibility! There’s never going to be a time where we don’t accept you as you are, where you’re at, & meet you there. ⁣

The motto for our virtual get together has been “Better Together”— because we truly are!! And ANYONE is invited to that. There will never be a time where inclusion & welcoming people from all walks of life will not be a thing. ⁣

I said it a few years ago at one of my first Summit trips, but, you CAN sit with us. Because community is something that makes these exercise programs unique. You will have people in the trenches right along with you. And they’ll be cheering you on and wanting the best for you, no matter who you are or where you’re from.⁣

So while we can’t be together this year, we KNOW that we’re better together and that’s something that doesn’t change, whether we’re virtually together or together in person. You can’t take away that spirit.

Sienna & I are learning today 🥬🍓🥦⁣

Here’s the thing— I signed up for & started this nutrition course last year, but truthfully, I didn’t give it my all 😖🤷‍♀️⁣

I made excuses about why I couldn’t commit to learning and implementing it fully...⁣

But I’M READY NOW! ⁣

Ready to bring this into my life & be a better coach with the information I learn! 🤓 ⁣

Food is community & medicine & love! It brings us together and helps sustain our bodies.

It’s not about a diet or completely eliminating certain foods for the sake of looking a certain way. ➡️➡️ It IS about discovering foods that make you feel good and fuel your fire 🔥 while also practicing balance and still enjoying food‼️⁣

I’m super excited! As a lifelong learner, I’m pumped to gain knowledge about what goes into the foods we eat & how it fuels our bodies 💪💪 and to help bring that to our virtual gym community! Plus, this program is awesome because it doesn’t stop at dropping knowledge— it gives dozens of recipe ideas, ways to portion meals based on your personal activity level, & continues to drop knowledge every month with new info/recipes, etc. Then in turn, I can help the community I work with to connect with these recipes and figure out food ideas personalized to their needs and goals ✌️
