More recently, I’ve had a few people ask, “Why did you start Shore Sprouts?”
And I realized I’ve never really answered that here.
I usually keep this page very business-focused, but I believe it is important to know who I am personally as well!!…
Hi I’m Alexa, some fun facts about me… I love to travel, I am very crafty, I definitely thrive in (organized) chaos, and I’m getting married this year!!
I’ve always loved children. Long before Shore Sprouts existed, I knew I wanted to work with kids and own my own business- possibly a daycare. I started working with children at 16 and have done so since. After becoming a permanent substitute in a kindergarten class, for a while I considered teaching full-time, but I realized my heart was with younger ages and with building something of my own.
Through those experiences, I also saw a lot of things I didn’t love- systems that didn’t feel enriching, intentional, or child-centered enough. I knew I wanted to do better.
When I lived in other parts of New Jersey, I nannied and spent my days bringing kids to classes, play spaces, and activities. After moving to Atlantic County, I noticed how limited those opportunities were in this area. When I couldn’t find it, I built it- combining proven approaches, meaningful play, and years of hands-on experience into one intentional program for young children.
Shore Sprouts was also inspired by my niece, who is happily my test subject for every activity, idea, and theme (lol). Loving and understanding children doesn’t require having your own… it requires passion, experience, and intention.
Shore Sprouts exists because children deserve meaningful, hands-on experiences, and families deserve a space rooted in play, connection, and purpose. And this is exactly why I do this. 🌱 🤍🫶🏼 thank you for being apart of it!!
