Empowered Family Services Empowering children, teens, & families in all walks of life through mental health support

11/20/2024

Dear valued clients and community partners of Empowered Family Services,

First, I want to thank you for trusting us with your mental health care for the past two years. It has been an incredible journey to walk alongside each of you as you embark on healing and working on your mental health. Many practices don’t make it past the first six months, and seeing Empowered Family Services grow is absolutely due to the trust you have put in us to work with you. We are honored to have seen you, your children, and your families grow and change.

This has been a year of significant personal and economic changes for myself (Bethany). Due to these circumstances, I have had to make the difficult decision to close Empowered Family Services. I will be transitioning into a new role which will allow me to continue putting time with my family as a priority while adjusting to personal circumstances. This notice is to provide you with proper notice that Empowered Family Services will be no longer providing mental health services effective February 28, 2025.

I recognize that this is a difficult transition and we have built trust and relationships in our time together. All of us at Empowered Family Services will do our best to ensure you continue to experience that trust and relationship during this time of change. Please feel free to reach out with any questions or concerns as we move forward.

All the best,

BETHANY WALKER, LCSW

11 years is too long to wait to get help. Just like we would take medication for a physical health issue, or call our doctor if we were having symptoms of a stomach bug, reaching out for help for our mental health shouldn't be put off. End the Stigma and TALK about your mental health! There's no normal. There's no shame.

and want to watch some mental health related moves for . Some of the greatest YA novels have been adapted into incredible movies that explore themes around mental health.

Turtles All the Way Down (one of Bethany’s favorite books) was just adapted into a movie streaming on MAX. John Green tackles OCD in one of the most well-portrayed adaptations, having struggled with OCD himself.

All the Bright Places was released in 2020 by Netflix, an adaptation of a YA novel by Jennifer Niven that looks at bipolar disorder and su***de. An emotional and moving movie, this will stick with you for some time.
