Friends, like all of you, my heart is breaking over the tragedy in Texas—especially the devastating loss at Camp Mystic. The lives lost. The grief families are carrying right now. It’s unthinkable.

Words feel so small. I can barely form them. So instead, I want to offer something else.

A little while ago, I created a Me Course with my therapist and friend, Carissa Woodwyk, called Suffering & Recovery. It came straight out of my own season of deep heartbreak—when my life blew up, and I didn’t know if I’d ever come back.

We made this course for those moments when it all falls apart. When you don’t know what to do with your pain.

And I want to offer it—completely free—to anyone who needs it right now.

No catch. No signup gimmicks. Just a soft place to land. A place to feel what’s real. To be reminded that you’re not alone in your grief or fear or numbness. That your pain is real, and there is still a way through it, even if you can’t see it yet.

Whether this tragedy has hit close to home or stirred up something long buried, whether you’re in the middle of the storm or standing with someone who is… this is for you.

❤️ Here's the link to the course — and use code FREEME at the checkout page: https://shop.jenhatmaker.com/products/suffering-recovery-for-the-rest-of-us

Forward this to ANYONE. There are no limits.

Take what you need. Skip what you don’t. Come back to it when you're ready.

Because you are not alone. And because healing, even in its slowest, gentlest form, is always possible.

The "in-between" stage of healing and what you might not hear so often👇

There’s a stage on your healing journey that feels the most confusing—and yet, it’s one of the most important.

It’s not the beginning, when survival patterns run the show. It’s not the end, when clarity and safety feel more stable. It’s the in-between.

The space where the old strategies—pleasing, fixing, overthinking—no longer feel aligned.
But the new way of being? It hasn’t fully landed yet. You catch glimpses of your true self… but you don’t feel steady in it.

This is where many people feel stuck, lost, or like they’re doing something wrong. But you’re not. You’re becoming. And this stage asks for a different kind of support.

What helps?

1. Hold both the old and the new. Your old self doesn’t need to be erased—it needs compassion. Your emerging self needs space, permission, and safety to take root.
Healing is the art of holding both, gently.

Try this now: Turn towards yoruself and feel the in between YOU. "I see and honor the part of me that’s still surviving… and the part of me that’s growing."

This is the work—to hold both with compassion. The old self needs presence, not shame. The emerging self needs space, not pressure.

2. Honor 1% shifts. Progress doesn’t always mean symptom-free. It often means less intensity, a few more seconds of space, or new awareness. These small changes are the path.

3. Soften the pressure to “arrive.” Your nervous system doesn’t need you to be fully healed.
It needs you to stay with yourself—right here, as you are. Peace begins with radical self-acceptance.

My Self Attunement Audio Toolkit was created for this exact stage—to help you transition from the old to the new and build capacity, perspective and connection while everything within you reorganizes.

For years, my body lived in a perpetual state of bracing, chronic vigilance, never safe to relax, enjoy, regulate or rest.

Here's what I learned from supporting a body shift from a chronic state of terror, bracing and pressure into a state of soft alertness and trust.

1. It takes time, gentleness, and infinite patience.

My body had lived in contraction for so long, it couldn’t just “feel safe.” Energy shifts slowly—especially the kind that’s been holding stress and trauma for decades.

Safety builds gradually. Be patient with your body. Honor the 0.1% shifts. Let them be enough. Avoid “big” catharsis or forced releases—what your body really needs is space, gentleness and to honor its pace of change.

2. Boundaries are the body’s first language of safety.

When emotional, somatic, or energetic boundaries are collapsed, the body cannot feel safe to feel or regulate. Rebuilding internal space was essential—learning to say no to urgency, overexposure, or old survival patterns helped the body feel held. My body needed to feel contained and protected by its own boundaries before it could change patterns.

3. The body doesn't respond to pressure but to attunement.

For years, I tried to "fix", relax or rush the body. It didn’t work. In fact, it made things worse. Because, unwillingly, my body was met with the very things that created and perpetuated the trauma- more pressure, more mis-attunement, more dismissal.

One of the primary traumas of the body is the trauma of not being attuned, of being neglected. When we learn to attune and meet the body differently, that's the healing we long for. When we listen, offer space, and attune, the body says, "Oh, I'm finally heard."

If you’re ready to start building this kind of relationship with your body—one that says “I’m here, I’m listening”—my Self-Attunement Audio Toolkit is an empowering source of support.

It’s a collection of audio-guided practices designed to restore connection, safety, and trust at the pace your body actually needs.
