Serving Cowlitz, Pacific and Grays Harbor Counties in SW Washington. We are a birth to age 8 coordinated continuum of care that nurtures the healthy development and wellness of all children through the prevention, early identification and treatment of mental, emotional and behavioral disorders using evidence based practices.
• Train and support early care, schools and primary care providers in the use of tools for social and emotional development and caregiver screeners.
• Strengthen Parenting skills.
• On-site consultations and training, screening assessments, interventions and referrals.
• Assist early care and education to create optimal learning settings.
• Ensure a continuum of care to support the physical and behavioral aspects of children’s development. Birth to age 8.
Universal Screening and Assessment
• Train and support early care, school, and primary care providers in using tools for social and emotional development.
• Preventative screenings and mental health treatment for children.
• Link families to Help Me Grow Washington
(provides free screening age 1-8).
• Provide services to children in primary care, early care, community and educational settings.
• Parent and caregiver assessments for perinatal emotional disorders, depression, substance use, and domestic violence
Family and Parent Training
• Conduct family education Initiatives such as Incredible Years (IY) parenting program to increase positive parent interactions, increase knowledge of age appropriate expectations, and decrease undesirable behaviors
• Provide monthly parenting classes based on social, behavioral/emotional issues.
• Home visiting to enhance parent group learning through one-on-one sessions with families.
• Support community partnerships with WISe and community visitation services.
Behavioral Health in Primary Care
• Equip settings to address behavioral health through on-site consultation and training, screening assessments, interventions, or referrals with partners at Federally Qualified Health Centers, Child and Adolescent Clinic, WIC providers and local hospitals.
• Utilize nurse navigators embedded at clinics to assist families in accessing resources such as health insurance, mental health services, assessment tools, educating clients on how to address mental and health concerns, and connecting families to shelter and food assistance programs.
Mental Health Consultation
• Assist early care and education to create optimal learning settings and address behavioral concerns.
• Use school therapists to collaborate with elementary schools to provide behavioral and mental health services for children ages 5-8 years old and transition from Pre-K to Kindergarten.
• Implement IY Incredible Beginnings (ages 1-5) for child care providers on social/emotional coaching, proactive teaching and positive behavior strategies.
• Use an early interventionists to implement IY Incredible Beginnings (ages 1-5) for child care providers on social/emotional coaching, proactive teaching and positive behavior strategies.
In addition, Implement IY Teacher Classroom Management Training for early childhood and elementary teachers with focus on improving classroom management, encouraging pro-social behavior and decreasing aggression.
