February's Instructor Trainer Profile: Sherri Herring

How long have you been at the IHL? I just started December 29, 2025, so two months.

Number of years training/teaching fitness: 13 years

Current classes on the schedule: Cardio Pump Tuesday 12:00p, HIIT Thursday 8:00a

Certifications: AFAA Primary Group Exercise, AFAA Personal Fitness Trainer

Why do I like teaching and training: I hope to inspire others to enjoy Fitness, live healthier, be more active, and reach/maintain their goals.

What are my personal fitness goals: I want to build strong bones, have a healthy heart, and improve my balance and energy levels for a long, happy life!

More about me: I have a wonderful, supportive husband of 29 years and counting. We love camping, watching sports (hockey and baseball are my faves), and hanging out with our friends.

Join Sherri in class on Tuesdays and Thursdays. For more information about personal training, stop by the desk for one of her business cards.

🌟 Member Spotlight: Clara Bates 🌟

Clara has been part of the IHL family since 2008, and she’s a true example of strength, consistency, and community. Growing up on a ranch, hard work was her first workout routine — and she’s carried that determination through every stage of life.

After getting active again in her 40s, Clara eventually found her fitness home at IHL, where she now loves indoor cycle, yoga, Pilates, and especially weight training. She believes the idea that women “bulk up” from lifting is an old myth — and she proves every day how important strength training is for confidence, independence, and healthy aging.

Living with arthritis, Clara stays motivated to move for pain management, mobility, and long term health. And beyond the workouts, she treasures the friendships she’s built over 17 years. Those connections became especially meaningful as she navigated the loss of her husband — the routine, the community, and the support helped carry her through.

💛 Clara’s advice to anyone new to fitness or struggling to stay active:
• Be consistent - you don’t have to come every day but make a schedule and stick to it.
• Incorporate weight training. Take a class, listen to your instructors, or invest in a personal trainer to learn proper form and build confidence.
• Find a routine you enjoy… and people you enjoy doing it with.

We’re so grateful to have Clara as part of our IHL community! 💛💪✨
