As we reflect on our accomplishments in 2025, we are proud to highlight the exceptional cardiovascular care happening right here at Longview Regional Medical Center.

Over the past year, our heart program continued to grow, offering a full range of advanced cardiovascular services so patients can receive high quality care close to home without traveling to larger cities. Thanks to the dedication of our physicians, nurses, and clinical teams, heart surgeries at Longview Regional increased 16 percent in 2025 compared to the previous year, while maintaining strong patient outcomes.

Adding to this momentum, Longview Regional was recently recognized with the American College of Cardiology (ACC) Chest Pain Center Accreditation with Primary PCI, an honor awarded to hospitals that demonstrate excellence in the rapid diagnosis and treatment of heart attacks.

David Jayakar, M.D., M.S., has been director of cardiovascular services at Longview Regional Hospital since 2010. He is board certified by the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Thoracic Surgery. Dr. Jayakar has a special interest in minimally invasive cardiac, vascular, and thoracic surgery. He also performs transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI), endovascular abdominal aortic aneurysm repair and introduced bloodless cardiac surgery, off-pump beating heart bypass surgery and the “Fistula First” program to Longview Regional Hospital.
