🎨 Self-Care Isn’t Just Baths + Walks.
Sometimes it’s paint under your fingernails.
I don’t talk about this part of my journey often — not because it isn’t important, but because most people meet me through fitness first. Then we go deeper into lifestyle shifts, nutrition, mindset, habits, nervous system regulation, and eventually… we arrive here:
Creative expression.
For me, art isn’t a hobby — it’s a pillar of my health.
It’s how I metabolize experiences my body can’t quite speak out loud.
From a brain perspective (quick nerd moment 🧠), creativity activates neural pathways connected to:
✨ problem-solving
✨ emotional processing
✨ critical thinking
✨ opportunity-seeking
The science is simple:
What you look for, you will find.
Creativity widens the field you’re looking from.
When we create — paint, dance, write, sculpt, hum, build, collage, photograph — the mind switches from looping thought to open awareness, and suddenly possibilities appear where walls used to sit. Exercise and deep stretching can release a lot… but some emotions need color, texture, movement, story.
Some feelings don’t want a solution — they want expression.
Art is where I exhale.
🖼 Today at the holiday market, surrounded by makers, I’m reminded how essential this practice is for my own wholeness. My paintings are there (priced to move), and I’m doing 10-minute portraits for $10 — messy, fast, joyful little captures of human essence. It feels like a celebration of what our hearts can create when we just let them play.
If you’re a human with feelings (so… all of us), I’d love to know:
How do you express what can’t be said in words?
Do you paint? Garden? Bake? Sing? Decorate? Build? Journal? Dance?
Share below — your creativity might inspire someone else.
And if you’re curious about how I weave artistic expression into my coaching for healing, self-connection, and emotional release… send me a message.
This is my favorite kind of work.
And it’s absolutely transformational. 🤍
