Center for Balance and Wellness

Center for Balance and Wellness Feel better today with natural hormone replacement therapy! Men have multiple options for treating low testosterone.

The mission of the Center for Balance and Wellness is improving the health, life quality, and well-being of our patients through identification of hormone deficiency and imbalance, providing appropriate medically based bioidentical therapy, and encouraging improvements in daily nutrition and exercise habits. Most women are aware of the symptoms of estrogen deficiency, for which there are many trea

tment options. However, many women suffer from low testosterone (especially after hysterectomy) which significantly impacts health and well-being. Most physicians are not trained to diagnose and treat the problems resulting from low testosterone in female patients. Dr. Mauldin has 32 years experience in hormone management and has received special training in this area. However, BioTE pellet therapy is a bio-identical, cost-effective alternative that offers more sustained levels than creams, injections, or patches, with dosing every 5-6 months. Based on a flawed report that it commissioned, FDA is signalling that it may consider new restrictions on compounded hormones. Paid for by the Alliance for Pharmacy Compounding, a non-profit organization advocating for small business compounding pharmacies across the country.

from a current patient: "Have been using hormone replacements since Oct 2013 - feel better than I expected at 83 - well worth the visits."

If you know a young man (lets say age 35 or below) who is thinking about starting testosterone therapy because he needs a "boost" - this seems especially common in weightlifters and oilfield workers in west Texas, in my experience - he needs to know that this is NOT a good idea. "Previous exposure to exogenous testosterone or anabolic steroids, at any point in life...may cause secondary hypogonadism (low T) and infertility, an effect which can endure up to 2 years and in some cases may be permanent." (Asian Journal of Andrology, 2015)

If a young man truly has symptomatic low T, I suggest a trial of Clomiphene therapy - a more physiologic way to achieve normal testosterone levels, available through this office (off-label use, clomiphene not FDA approved for this indication)

This junk may be described as "popular foods;" just remember that REAL FOOD has ONE ingredient and is commonly found in the produce section or the meat section of your local supermarket. As opposed to processed food-like products engineered to survive for months or years in boxes on the shelf!

Researchers say some preservatives and packaging chemicals suppress immune function and reduce the potency of vaccines.

There has never been a more powerful wake-up call to make the lifestyle changes you know you've needed to make for years. Don't shy away from committing to eat low carb/high nutrition, adopt the discipline of regular exercise, and take your D3! It will be hard but WILL BE WORTH IT!

The pandemic must be the motivation people need to improve their metabolic health.

D3 deficiency is essentially a "co-morbidity" that increases your chance of getting COVID as well as complications if infected. It is likely that YOU are deficient right now. Don't wait for a vaccine. Read this now!

To minimize your risk of respiratory infections such as influenza and COVID-19, I recommend a vitamin D level between 40 and 60 ng/mL.

Just out - You need to read this. If you're not taking a D3 supplement, it is very likely that you are deficient and thus at greater risk of COVID-19, flu, heart attack, etc. We don't have any idea how effective a vaccine will be, but cutting the risk in half would be considered effective. Why wait for an unproven vaccine? Take D3 now! While it's best to have levels checked by your physician, you can take 5000 units of D3 daily with virtually no risk. If significantly deficient, take 10,000 units daily for at least 90 days, then change to 5000 units.

Vitamin D deficiency increases a person's risk for catching COVID-19 by 77% compared to those with sufficient levels of the nutrient, a study published Thursday by JAMA Network Open found.

Recently diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes (T2D)? It's not a good thing. With that diagnosis, your life is typically shortened by 7 years, and medical costs go up $250k. Rather than just treat it, why not REVERSE T2D? Typically caused by bad lifestyle choices over decades, you CAN enjoy better health again. Watch this video!

Can a person be "cured" of Type 2 Diabetes? Dr. Sarah Hallberg provides compelling evidence that it can, and the solution is simpler than you might think. Dr...

K2: If you're taking Vitamin D3 for more than a few months, it's time to add Vitamin K2. D3 increases the absorption of calcium from your gut, but adequate levels of K2 are needed to put that calcium into your bones, where it belongs (not in your kidneys or your heart). No prescription required, of course; 45 to 100 mcg daily is appropriate. You should NOT take Vitamin K, of course, if you're on Coumadin (warfarin), a blood thinner.
