Can you imagine if you remodeled your kitchen by simply adding things over your existing kitchen? What a mess that would be. What does this have to do with massage and PT? Listen along and let me explain.
For any major remodeling project to have the desired outcome, you have to start with demolition. Removing the old, unwanted or possibly damaged existing pieces. You just don't build on a faulty foundation.
Massage therapy and Physical therapy work together in a similar manner. Mind you, PTs are trained in manual therapy to varying degrees (some more and some less). Unfortunately, they are severely restricted by time allotted in care plans. That is where we come in. More like the demolition team, our job is to help the existing (old, possibly damaged) tissues to relax and ultimately be more open to accepting the challenge of focused movement provided by Physical Therapy. Some techniques we use also act to disrupt the neural patterns, meaning we shake things up so PT has a fresh canvas to work with.
Ultimately, working in conjunction improves your outcome. So do you NEED massage, well probably not, but does it help you get the MOST out of your PT, absolutely.
So why choose The Body Mechanics? Experience matters. The foundation of this practice is built on working with post-surgical, chronic diseases and inflammatory conditions. Working with injuries and diseases is our specialty. Working collaboratively with other professionals is our goal. Helping you achieve your goals is what we strive for.
