đ¨ Heads up, glow-fam! đ¨
This is about being informed and keeping your skin safe. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) just tested 95 over-the-counter acne treatments that contain benzoyl peroxide. They found elevated levels of the carcinogen benzene in six of them, and retailers have been asked to pull those lots from the shelves. ďżź
Here are the products & lot numbers you should know:
â˘Â   La RocheâPosay Effaclar Duo Dual Action Acne Treatment â Lot MYX46W (exp April 2025) ďżź
â˘Â   Walgreens Acne Control Cleanser â Lot 2309328 (exp Sept 2025) ďżź
â˘Â   Proactiv Emergency Blemish Relief Cream (Benzoyl Peroxide 5%) â Lots V3305A & V3304A (exp Oct 2025) ďżź
â˘Â   Proactiv Skin Smoothing Exfoliator â Lot V4204A (exp July 2025) ďżź
â˘Â   SLMD Benzoyl Peroxide Acne Lotion â Lot 2430600 (exp March 2025) ďżź
â˘Â   Walgreens Tinted Acne Treatment Cream â Lot 49707430 (exp March 2026) ďżź
đĄ What to do:
â˘Â   Check your product lot numbers and expiration dates.
â˘Â   If you spot one of these lots, avoid using it (or check with your retailer).
â˘Â   Store all acne topicals properly (cool, dry place). Heat can increase risk. ďżź
â˘Â   Donât freak out! the FDA says the risk is low.
â˘Â   Use this as a reminder to evaluate your skincare: Are your products working for you? Are they safe?
â˘Â   And if youâre unsure, reach out to your aesthetic nurse and skin care bestie (hello me đ) for smart alternatives.
Stay brilliant, safe, and skin-smart đ
