Therapy Tip Thursday: Planned Ignoring
Want to reduce attention-seeking behaviors like whining or yelling? Try planned ignoring!
This technique involves calmly withholding attention during those behaviors—no eye contact, no talking, no reaction.

Why? Because for some kids, even a “stop that” is rewarding.
Stay neutral during the behavior, and give tons of praise when they’re calm or asking appropriately.

Pro tip: Pair it with positive reinforcement so they know what behavior does work!

🌟 Meet Gabby🌟
✨ Role: RBT
✨ How long have you been part of the Blue Path Team: 3 years
✨ Favorite part of the job: seeing my clients progress and grow! ✨ Share a funny moment from work: one of my clients was getting ready for his first school dance and while he was showing us his moves he was demonstrating goals and social skills that we’ve worked on. Afterwards he said “thank you for teaching me that” and that he was ready for his dance! 🥹 
✨Fun fact: I recently started to get more involved with gardening and home remodeling/renovations. In the near future, I plan to flip a house with my cousin so hopefully will prepare myself now!!  
✨ Go-to way to brighten someone’s day: expressing gratitude to others and showing that you care! 
✨ Other fun or random fact:
Being an RBT has given me the opportunity to help others and to make a difference in their lives. This job is amazing each and everyday and I am so grateful to be a part of this company and team!
