We are excited to formally welcome Jamie Bell to our funeral home family! Jamie is our Administrative Office Assistant and Funeral Director Intern at Blake Funeral Homes. She earned her Funeral Director’s License in 2001 and, after stepping away from funeral service to raise her family and operate her home-based engraving business, she has returned to the profession with renewed dedication.

A 1985 Loogootee High School graduate and lifelong resident of Loogootee, she is the daughter of David (late) and Linda Cropp. Jamie graduated with an AS in Funeral Services from Vincennes University and also holds a BA in Psychology with a focus on Grief Counseling from the University of Evansville.

Outside of work, she enjoys time with her four adult children and seven grandchildren, as well as raising and competing with her Golden Retrievers. For Jamie, it is truly an honor to walk alongside families in her community with compassion, respect, and care.

With summer coming to a close and students heading back to school, we want to take a minute to thank our amazing summer intern, Sydnee Wittmer!

Sydnee has been a caring, respectful, and compassionate presence in our funeral home. With a true heart for serving others, she’s been a wonderful addition to our team these past few months.

A 2024 graduate of Loogootee High School, Sydnee is now entering her second year at Vincennes University, where she’s pursuing an Associate of Science degree to become a licensed Funeral Director.

We’re so proud of the work she’s done and grateful for the time she spent with us this summer. Sydnee has gained valuable hands-on experience and has made a positive impact in the community.

Best of luck this school year, Sydnee — we can’t wait to see all that you accomplish!
