Yes the Covid slots really did fill up in under 10 minutes. Keep in mind there can be cancellations and then a spot would pop back open.

During an early CoVid vax event in 2021, 300 slots filled in 4 minutes. They go quick.

More vaccine is on order and we will open more slots as soon as it arrives.

We have slots open for Moderna Covid Vaccine. They are between September 18th and 25th. Do not look past Sept 25th. We expect them to fill quickly. If you do not get a slot this time, we have more on order. The manufacturers are shipping partial orders, with more to come.

The recommendation is to have at least 6 months since your last Covid vaccine, and/or 3 months since you had an active case of Covid.

The slots may go fast, but we have more vaccine on order. Openings are during the week of September 14th. Only look there.

Regarding question about Novavax availability on Lopez:
We won't have Novavax initially. They are more expensive than Moderna and we don't know if reimbursement will cover the higher cost yet. We are waiting to hear from our colleagues.

Thank you Washington State Department of Health! Providers now have a blanket Standing Order for the administration of Covid-19 vaccines for anyone as listed in the order. See first section of Order. We give adult vaccine here, so when it arrives, anyone age 18 and up can get a Covid vaccine. No special requirements.

We have vaccine on order and we are waiting for it to be released. We already know the orders will ship piecemeal. Please watch for arrival updates on FB and Lopez Rocks and refrain from calls to the pharmacy. Sign up will be thru our website as usual.

These are the numbers for the number of Covid tests we have provided, we can only hope that most of the tests turn out to be negative.

We felt we would have a spike in Covid cases right after the 4th of July. The demand for test kits proves people are still thinking of Covid and testing.

The graph shows the number of Covid Test Kits we have sold from Jan 2025 to Aug 20, 2025. We have 11 days left in August and have 54 sold to date in August, July was the highest this year with 77.

Today it seems the first fistful of patients at 9 a.m. came to get test kits.

Humana Medicare Drug Plans for 2026

If you have a Medicare Prescription Drug Plan (Part D) you may have received a letter from Humana telling you that Lopez Island Pharmacy would not be a provider in 2026.

To be clear, your current Humana Part D pharmacy plan still is accepted at the pharmacy and will be accepted until the end of 2025.

In the middle part of July we received a “Unilateral” contract from Humana, a “Unilateral” contract to us means take it or leave it. We did respond with a counteroffer to Humana which they turned down, leading to the letter from Humana to patients with Humana coverage.

You can change your Humana Plan when open enrollment opens in mid-October 2025 and we will be happy to run an analysis on what plans would be in your best interest for 2026.

For the 1st two quarters in 2025 Humana had $32.4 billion in revenues and a profit of $545 million. Humana is being negatively impacted by their Medicare Advantage Plans, and they continue to close some Advantage Plans in 2026.

So, their attempt to balance their books on our backs is not taken lightly. We are also categorized as a “Critical Access Pharmacy” in Washington, and Humana has chosen to ignore that distinction.

Our door remains open if Humana wants to have a dialogue with us and reach a mutually agreeable contract. As we inch closer to open enrollment (Mid Oct) you can be sure you will be deluged with print and television advertising telling you how great Humana is.

Stay connected and realize you will have options during open enrollment that may be better than your current coverage.

Once again, we are seeing an increase in Covid cases. If you think you are having allergy problems, or a cold, it might be wise to test for Covid.

Please do not go out in public places when sick. This is how Covid outbreaks spread. If you need something from the pharmacy, call us ahead of time and we will arrange for curbside pick up.

This time around we are seeing symptoms like runny nose and head congestion, fever, sore throat and cough. It can present with any or all of these symptoms.
