Children are gifts from God, and in my life, most often, they are illustrators of the truths of God. The truth today, spoken through my two year old baby boy-Words mean very little; actions are what leave a real impact.
This morning, I woke up and my back was hurting really bad. I was telling my husband, and my little man said, “wait mommy” and left the room to go on a mission. He came back with what you see in the picture. A small, flat packaged ornament. At first I was wondering what he was doing, and then suddenly it hit me as he raised my shirt to place it on my back. He carefully pretended to peel it back and smoothed it over my back. I then knew exactly what he was doing. He was mimicking his maw maws daily actions. My father in law wears lidocaine patches on his back and my baby boy must have seen his maw maw putting them on for him. I don’t know if he saw it once, or numerous times, but I know that the action left an impact. He remembered her action, he remembered why she did it, and he acted in the same way.
Our God has always been a God of action. He sent Jesus to demonstrate the actions of his Character. Jesus demonstrated his love for humanity in his action on the cross. And, God’s still here today actively working via the Holy Spirit.
Oh God, help me to be more mindful of my actions at home and out in this world. I pray that the actions of me and husband would imitate the actions of Christ, leaving an impression for our children to remember for years to come 💕
