As a LMFT I have always been interested in working with people who don’t quite feel like they “fit the mold.” I was homeschooled since the age of ten, and find that my philosophy about individualized education for children translates directly into my therapeutic practice. “Child-led learning” can be directly translated into “client-led therapy,” wherein I am the resource, facilitator, and guide, but leave the direction up to the client.

It's always such a treat to get my magazine stash refreshed.
Hi y'all.
I haven't been posting nearly as much as I want to - it is BUSY over here in Roya-land. I officially have a wait-list for new clients choosing to use insurance or see me in-person, but have immediate openings in my Thursday morning online art group if you would also like to gather your magazines and make some mess with me.

One of the teens in my online art group has begun to create comics based on us as the characters and all the inside jokes and lore our group has collected and created. It's the best thing I've ever seen. I love everything about it so much. I'm sharing this page with their permission.
I call them my lil chickpeas. They're the best. 🤩😍🤩😍🤩😍🤩😍🤩😍🤩😍

Just me over here wondering how to get all my notes done before baseball later 🥰😂

Heyyyyyy so if you haven't noticed, my availability is way less because I am also seeing clients through a group practice! That means if you are one of my private practice chickadees, go book your sessions so you reserve your spot! You don't need to pay til time of session.

It's a good day when I get to make art with clients.

Today we were talking about transitions and figuring out what we want -- so we collaged.

My rules: there needed to be a "transitional object" (e.g. stairs, a ladder, walkway, etc) and they needed to have 3 parts to their collage: the last, the present, and the future.

This is mine - feel free to read too much into it ;) I encourage you to make your own, and tag me in it if you do!!!

I am running out of space on my schedule and will be opening up a wait-list soon. If you've been thinking about scheduling a session, I encourage you to get on my calendar soon - but I always have room in my art groups!

Guess who gets to see clients on a real live couch again?! 😜

Very very happy to let y'all know that I am now seeing in-person clients again on Thursdays and Fridays!

I am still available for telehealth on all days.

I am also accepting a few different insurance companies for Californian residents, so if that was what was stopping you from booking an appointment, please contact me and I'll send you the list of insurance agencies I am in network with.

My new digs are on the border between and right off of - so easy to get to, and I am busy stocking the office with all my favorite art supplies as we speak.

It's rough out there.

It's ridiculously easy to get overwhelmed by the truly, truly awful things going on in the world. That overwhelm can turn to despair. Sometimes our brains way of protecting us from hopelessness and helplessness is to tell us that everything is pointless and meaningless and why even bother?
That's nihilism in a nutshell - and it's painful to experience and painful to watch someone else (like your teen) experience.

I created a blog post designed to help you through those feelings. I hope it's helpful even a little bit. If you have any other tips that might help others, please feel free to leave them in the comments!

Heya friend - how long have you been scrolling?

I bet it's because you're looking for some connection. That's why I scroll. And scroll. And scroll.

So do me a favor - take a 9 minute break, and do a little journalling with these prompts. In less than ten minutes you're going to feel a little more connected, a little more centered, and a little more yourself.

Keep your hand moving, don't stress content or quality.

Hello you sea worthy marigolds!
This is your sign - it's time to do a little writing. We can all use it. Set an alarm for 9 minutes and write without stopping with these prompts (you can do 3 minutes each, or 9 each, up to you!)

You are a glowing, resourceful daffodil and this is your sign to spend the next 9 minutes writing!

You don't need to write a ton to get the mental health benefits of journaling! Just set a timer for 9 minutes and use these 3 prompts to keep your hand moving. Don't worry about quality, punctuation, or even making sense. Just write!

My Story

As a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, I have always been interested in working with people who don’t quite feel like they “fit the mold.” I have an intimate understanding of homeschooling and unschooling, and find that my philosophy about individualized education for children translates directly into my therapeutic practice. “Child-led learning” can be directly translated into “client-led therapy,” wherein I am the resource, facilitator, and guide, but leave the direction up to the client. My speciality is in using art such as collage and painting with both parents and children/teens to help everyone express themselves better, get their needs met, and connect more as a family.
