As a LMFT I have always been interested in working with people who don’t quite feel like they “fit the mold.” I was homeschooled since the age of ten, and find that my philosophy about individualized education for children translates directly into my therapeutic practice. “Child-led learning” can be directly translated into “client-led therapy,” wherein I am the resource, facilitator, and guide, but leave the direction up to the client.

I am really enjoying finding more art confidence! It's so funny because this is a huge part of the work I do as a creative therapist, but don't always apply it to myself. ❤️

Posted about 40 ACEOs on eBay (find me as Therecreative) -- one just got a 5 cent bid! Never been so excited about a nickel before 😂😂😂

I got my very first one star review!

Someone on Etsy was very displeased with my Teens and Screentime worksheet.

My guess is - they were looking for someone to help enforce strict rules and tell them why teens should have very limited time online and on devices. You will not find that from me.

I'm comfortable with the fact that not everyone is ready to hear how they can damage their relationships with harsh limitations on their teen's screen time use.
But I am bummed that this negative review might make it harder for parents who COULD benefit from my products find me.

It's a $3.95 digital download. Want to see for yourself?

✨ From Therapist Roya Dedeaux ✨

I’m putting together a small online group for kids ages 10–12 who want to build greater self-esteem through art. We’ll meet once a week for 50 minutes, over the course of 8 weeks, in a fun and supportive online space. Kids don’t need to be “good at art." This group is about expression, connection, and confidence, not perfection.

Group will be open for for 3–6 kids to join.
💻 Online | ⏰ Weekly for 8 weeks | 💵 $197 total | 🗓️ Thursdays 9am pacific

We will be starting in October! If you’d like more info or to save a spot for your child, reach out to me!

"Luckily, I am the Mess"

Random things while I am waiting to eat KBBQ (6th in line, hurrrrryyyy)

Collage is one of my favorite mediums. Rubber cement is my favorite adhesive.

I am managing a softball team, coaching a soccer team, and directing a baseball team this season. This is so far from who I thought I'd be as a kid and I love every second of it.

I have finished two big quilts so far this year!!! And I have 5 more *almost* finished.

I do not measure ingredients when I cook. This includes baking, and even sourdough bread. I also hate hate hate measuring when I sew, so I try not to, mostly.

I really love working with parents to help them stop stressing and accept themselves and their kids for who they are. I've been rreeeeallly liking working with teens/young adults lately too when they feel sorta stuck or paralyzed on next steps.

I have a dog, cat, hamster, bearded dragon, and tortoise. I want a fish tank with guppies and finches next.

I'm still only 3rd in line and cannot wait for brisket and bulgogi 🤤🤤🤤

There's been a pattern with my clients lately -- a desire to rediscover the things that brought them joy when they were younger. Anxiety, depression, struggles with ADHD, unhappy relationships, difficult life transitions... The answer to all of these seem to involve art, play, connection, creativity, curiosity... So I joined in.

I remember making my first prints as a tiny kid, using celery and lemons. In college I took a couple of printmaking classes. I've had a lino print kit in my closet for years, tonight was the night to pull it out and play! I enjoyed myself immensely.

What about you? Coil pots? Oil pastels? Tissue paper decoupage? What art do you remember doing as a kid that we could pick up again and try today?

My Story

As a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, I have always been interested in working with people who don’t quite feel like they “fit the mold.” I have an intimate understanding of homeschooling and unschooling, and find that my philosophy about individualized education for children translates directly into my therapeutic practice. “Child-led learning” can be directly translated into “client-led therapy,” wherein I am the resource, facilitator, and guide, but leave the direction up to the client. My speciality is in using art such as collage and painting with both parents and children/teens to help everyone express themselves better, get their needs met, and connect more as a family.
