We are excited to now offer visits with one of our Doctors of Oriental Medicine who specializes in women's health and herbalism!

Dr Adam Broder continues his studies in herbal medicine with the esteemed Sharon Weizenbaum who has been practicing for 40 years with a focus on women’s health and classical formulas. Having completed a two-year mentorship on general diagnosis and prescribing, he is now currently taking part in a 14-month mentorship on women’s health. The topics include menstrual illnesses (amenorrhea, dysmenorrhea, irregular cycles, PMS), infertility, pregnancy and postpartum disorders, perimenopause and menopausal syndromes, and miscellaneous disorders in GYN (pelvic disorders, masses and cancer care). Adam graduated from Southwest Acupuncture College and has been a licensed DOM in New Mexico for over 7 years. He has done extensive post-graduate study in areas such as Chinese herbal medicine, women’s health, sports medicine acupuncture and Korean four needle technique. Adam sees Chinese medicine as an effective way to heal symptoms by using the energy of nature to bring balance to his patients. He is originally from Chicago and was drawn to New Mexico for its stunning scenery and access to outdoor activities such as hiking, camping and skiing. Have you had whiplash? Have you been diagnosed with fibromyalgia? Have you had an epidural? Do you have pain in the colored area of the photos? If so, then this post is for you!

The dura mater is the tough membrane that encapsulates your spinal cord and the brain. If there is an injury to the dura, such as whiplash or an epidural scar that is creating an adhesion inside the spine, these pain patterns may appear a few months or more after the injury. A dural injury can cause headaches, can be mistaken for carpal tunnel syndrome, or can even give fibromyalgia-like symptoms where "every little thing hurts".
At MSK Specialists we catch about 3 of these cases a month. These symptoms can persist for many years but can usually be resolved with a few manual therapy treatments of the dura mater. If you or someone you know is suffering from these pain patterns or are living with the feeling that "everything hurts", please consider that perhaps there is an untreated dura injury.
