Super Bowl 60 will take place on Sunday, February 8, in Santa Clara. While Los Altos Hills is not a host city, residents may notice increased activity around the region in the days leading up to and following the game.

With visitors traveling throughout Santa Clara County—and often into San Mateo County and San Francisco—there may be heavier traffic on major roadways, busier airports, and occasional transit delays. Areas likely to see increased use include Highways 101 and 280, San José Mineta International Airport, Caltrain, VTA, and other regional transit systems.

If you’re planning to travel, attend an event, or host guests during Super Bowl weekend, this is a good time to make sure you’re signed up for local emergency alerts. These alerts provide timely updates about traffic issues, weather, transit disruptions, and public safety information.

To receive Santa Clara County alerts:
• Text “SBLX” to 888-777
• Visit AlertSCC.org

If your plans take you into neighboring counties, consider signing up for alerts there as well. Alerts are location-based, and opting in helps ensure you receive useful information wherever you are.
A little preparation can help make the weekend smoother and more enjoyable. Travel safely, stay informed, and enjoy Super Bowl Sunday.

Severe Weather Update – Wind & Storm Event Expected Tonight

The National Weather Service (NWS) is forecasting another wind event beginning around 8:00 PM tonight and continuing through Christmas Day at approximately 10:00 AM.

Expected conditions include:
• Wind gusts of 40–60 mph
• Possible downed trees and power lines
• Thunderstorms and localized flash flooding
• A low (2%) chance of tornado activity

Wireless Emergency Alerts (WEA) may be issued overnight for tornado, severe thunderstorm, or flash flood warnings if conditions worsen.

If a severe thunderstorm or tornado warning is issued:
• Move to a low level or interior room
• Stay away from windows and exterior walls

Power outages are possible due to high winds. For outage updates, visit the PG&E Outage Center.

Please stay clear of downed power lines and report hazards to authorities.

Check on neighbors, especially seniors or those who may need assistance during storms or power outages.

The Town will continue to monitor conditions and provide updates as needed.

While no major impacts are anticipated this weekend, periods of rain, gusty winds, and localized nuisance flooding are possible from Monday through Thursday, with additional storm activity later in the week.

Public Works is preparing sandbag distribution areas, and Town staff will continue coordinating with regional partners to monitor conditions. Residents are encouraged to take simple preparedness steps.
