Crime Prevention & Home Fire Safety Class!

The Santa Clara County Fire Department and the Town understand that older adult residents are high on criminals' target lists. These thieves inflict harm via scams, fraud, and theft, usually through emotional threats and intimidation. This is one of the main topics for the Senior Agenda cadre here in Santa Clara County to help mitigate and decrease. Please encourage your older residents to attend and ask questions directly to the deputy, as these crimes are on the rise. Our older adult population will learn the latest on how these types of crimes are committed and what to do if they may become an unwilling victim.

In-Person, Thursday, July 24th, 1:00pm. Los Altos Hills Town Hall. 26379 Fremont Road.

🌞 Summer Heat in Los Altos Hills: Staying Safe, Staying Cool 🌞
As temperatures rise across the Bay Area, the Town of Los Altos Hills wants to remind residents that heat safety is no laughing matter, though a little humor can help keep things light when the weather isn't!
We know the signs of a serious heatwave: garden hoses that feel like boiling kettles, pets refusing to walk past the front door, and air conditioning bills that make us question our life choices. But with a few simple steps, we can all stay safe, support our neighbors, and keep our cool — literally and figuratively.
Here are a few friendly reminders for beating the heat:
• 💧 Hydrate often – water isn’t just for the plants. Drink up, even if you're not feeling thirsty.
• 🐾 Protect your pets – hot pavement can burn paws in seconds. If it’s too hot for you barefoot, it’s too hot for them.
• 🌳 Seek shade – whether under a tree, an umbrella, or indoors, giving your body a break from the sun can make all the difference.
• 🧓 Check on neighbors – especially older adults, young children, and anyone without air conditioning. A quick call or knock can go a long way.
• 🌬️ Save energy smartly – close blinds during the day, run fans in the evening, and consider unplugging non-essential electronics to reduce indoor heat.
Extreme heat can impact health, energy use, and emergency services. Let’s all do our part to stay prepared and look out for each other this summer.
For more local tips and emergency updates, sign up for AlertSCC and follow the Town's website and social media.
Stay safe and stay cool!

Remember that all fireworks, including those labeled 'safe and sane,' can cause serious injuries and fires, resulting in significant property damage. Help keep your loved ones, neighbors, and community safe this 4th of July by leaving fireworks to the professionals.
