Many military families qualify for WIC, even with active duty pay or housing allowances. WIC helps parents and guardians choose healthy foods, plan meals and support children’s growth.

WIC offers military families:

• Healthy foods like fruits and vegetables, dairy and whole grains
• Recipes using WIC approved foods for meals and snacks
• Budget friendly meal planning tips
• Guidance on feeding young children and how to handle changing routines

On Tuesday, the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors unanimously approved a motion to expand access to WIC and strengthen coordination across County departments and community partners. Heluna Health’s PHFE WIC Program (Official) was recognized as a key partner, reflecting its long-standing commitment to supporting families across the region.

Although WIC is one of the most effective public health programs, fewer than half of eligible families are enrolled. This motion — led by Supervisors Lindsey Horvath and Holly J. Mitchell — represents an important step toward improving access to nutrition and early childhood resources.

Kiran Saluja, Executive Director of PHFE WIC, noted, “With remote services, virtual appointments and electronic benefits, WIC is easier to access than ever. This motion will help reduce barriers and connect more parents and young children to the nutrition and support they need.”

All PHFE WIC centers will CLOSE EARLY on Wednesday, November 26, at 4:00pm.

Will be closed on the following days as our colleagues spend time with family and friends:
