Happy Nurses Week.

Grateful for every nurse who’s been part of the work and the mission.

You don’t just support patient care…You are the backbone of it.

You see what others miss. You step in when it matters most. You hold it together when things get difficult.

Respect. Always.

Creativity and addiction often share the same circuitry

High dopamine sensitivity
intense emotional range
pattern recognition
novelty seeking

That’s not a flaw
That’s the wiring

But that same wiring
when dysregulated
can chase relief just as powerfully as it creates brilliance

Substances don’t create the problem

They become the fastest regulator
for a brain that already feels everything intensely

That’s why “just remove the substance” fails for a lot of people

You didn’t treat the system
you removed the coping tool

Real recovery means:
learning regulation
restoring balance
and keeping the creative edge intact

You don’t have to lose who you are to get better

🎸 Last night at The Fonda Theatre, rock and roll showed up for mental health awareness and su***de prevention in a big way.

This wasn’t just a show.
It was community.
It was hope amplified through music.
It was rock and roll standing with the fighters, the survivors, and the ones we’ve lost.

At one point, Billy Morrison stepped up to the mic to introduce a song and said something that hit everyone in the room:

“Tell your friends it’s okay to ask for help.
Some of the coolest m'fers on the planet have asked for help…
more than you realize.”
— Billy Morrison

No bs. No masks.
Just truth.

A massive thank you to the legendary artists who gave their time and talent to something bigger than the spotlight:
• Corey Taylor (Slipknot, Stone Sour)
• Billy Idol
• Darryl “DMC” McDaniels (Run-DMC)
• Rick Springfield
• Sully Erna (Godsmack)
• Elliot Easton (The Cars)
• Steve Stevens
• Billy Morrison
• Nuno Bettencourt (Extreme)
• Josh Freese
• B-Real (Cypress Hill)
• Moby
• Billy Howerdel (A Perfect Circle)
• Matt McJunkins (A Perfect Circle)
• Gilby Clarke
• Marc LaBelle (Dirty Honey)
• Scott Shriner
• Fred Coury
• Jesse Hughes (Eagles of Death Metal)
• Donovan Leitch
• Franky Perez
• Erik Eldenius
• Paul Trudeau
• Derek Day
• Laura Mace
• Kitten Kuron
• Erica Canales

Mental health matters.
Hope is worth amplifying.

Grateful to everyone who showed up and stood for the cause.
Honored to be in the room where purpose, love and rock and roll collided.

🎸 The Next Chapter: Rockstar Brain Unplugged 🧠

I’ve been building something new — and it’s time to bring it to life.

Introducing Rockstar Brain Unplugged — my new Substack publication, podcast, and YouTube platform at the intersection of neuroscience, medicine, addiction, creativity, and transformation.

This isn’t about algorithms or trends.
It’s about truth, transformation, and helping people rewire their minds and rediscover purpose.

That’s where I’ll be posting most of my work moving forward —
live from Los Angeles, connected to those who are ready to think deeper, live louder, and grow stronger.

🎸 The 4 R’s of RockStarDoc Recovery™

1️⃣ Rewire (Biological)
Addiction hijacks the brain’s reward and stress circuits. Recovery starts with rewiring through evidence-based treatment, neuroplasticity, and restoring balance to the body and brain.

2️⃣ Reset (Psychological)
Breaking free isn’t just detox — it’s renewing the mind, healing trauma, and rewriting your inner playlist through therapy, coaching, and mindset work.

3️⃣ Reconnect (Social)
Addiction isolates. Recovery reconnects. Real healing happens in community — surrounded by people who amplify your destiny, not drain it.

4️⃣ Rise (Spiritual)
Rock bottom isn’t the end. It’s your stage for a comeback. This is where faith, identity, and purpose collide — and your new life begins.

⚡️ I help rockstars, creatives and high performers — on stage and in life — recover, rebuild, rise, and rock.

🧠 MINDWIRED: The Brain’s Comeback Tour

Addiction rewires the brain — but recovery does too.
The same circuits that once chased chaos can be trained to chase clarity, purpose, and peace.
That’s neuroplasticity — your mind’s built-in soundcheck for a new life.

And sometimes, the right medication helps you get back on stage.
Not as a crutch.
But as part of the setlist for healing.
Buprenorphine, naltrexone, acamprosate — tools that stabilize the chemistry so you can rebuild the rhythm.

Recovery isn’t just about white-knuckling your way through withdrawal.
It’s about retraining the system.
Rebuilding dopamine balance.
Restoring the connection between your prefrontal cortex (the voice of reason) and your reward system (the voice of craving).

Every day you stay consistent, every boundary you hold, every dose of grace you allow —
You’re laying down new neural tracks.

This isn’t a relapse story.
It’s a comeback tour.
And your brain?
It’s headlining.

🚨 MindWired | Dopamine Hijack
Every hit, every pill, every drink isn’t just “fun” it’s chemistry.

Drugs and alcohol hijack your dopamine system , the reward circuit that fuels your drive, passion, and creativity. Instead of dopamine flowing from progress, purpose, or rocking the stage… it gets trapped chasing the next fix.

That’s why addiction feels like motivation on fire but directionless, you’re running at full speed, but the stage you’re running toward is empty.

👉 True recovery isn’t killing dopamine.
👉 It’s rewiring it back to purpose, vision, and freedom.
👉 Protect your reward system — it’s your brain’s amplifier.

🎸🔥 Addiction isn’t random.
It targets the same brain circuits that make someone creative, driven, and relentless.

That means the very wiring that once fueled destruction can be the same wiring that fuels greatness — once it’s redirected.

The same brain that was hijacked can be healed.
Neuroplasticity means change is possible — your story can be rewritten.

🚨 New Series Drop | MindWired | Rock the Day Edition
This is where we break down how drugs and alcohol don’t just change your mood—they rewire your brain. Every drop brings raw neuroscience + rockstar grit, showing how substances hijack your circuits… and how clarity and recovery rewrite the story.

MindWired | Alcohol
Alcohol doesn’t just blur your vision—it rewires your brain. Neuroscience shows us how: alcohol hijacks the prefrontal cortex (the part of your brain designed for judgment, planning, and self-control) and hands the mic to the limbic system—the emotional, impulsive part. That’s why a few too many drinks can turn clarity into chaos.

True freedom isn’t found in numbing your brain’s circuits; it’s found in lighting them up with purpose, focus, and clarity.

👉 Protect your prefrontal cortex—it’s the lead singer of your brain.
👉 Don’t let a temporary buzz rewrite your destiny.
👉 Rock the day with a sober mind and an unstoppable spirit. 🎸🔥
