PCOS doesn’t look the same for everyone — and that’s because it’s a spectrum.

Some patients experience symptoms like excess hair growth or acne. Others may have high hormone levels without obvious physical signs. For some, it shows up as irregular or missed periods, while others may deal with ongoing or unpredictable bleeding.

PCOS can also be tied to metabolic health, including weight distribution, cholesterol, and blood pressure — but not always. There are many patients with “lean PCOS” who don’t fit the typical picture at all.

That’s why comparing your experience to someone else’s can be misleading. No two cases are the same, and treatment should never be one-size-fits-all.
