The Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) signed off on the booster for this age group on Thursday May 19, 2022.⁣
⁣
A booster dose for 5-11 years old can be given five months after the primary series to increase protection.⁣
⁣
Systemic and local reactions in children after dose three are similar to reactions after dose two. 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘮𝘰𝘴𝘵 𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘮𝘰𝘯 𝘴𝘺𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘮𝘪𝘤 𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘴 𝘢𝘧𝘵𝘦𝘳 𝘢 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘳𝘥 𝘥𝘰𝘴𝘦 𝘪𝘯 𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘥𝘳𝘦𝘯 𝘸𝘦𝘳𝘦 𝘧𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘨𝘶𝘦, 𝘩𝘦𝘢𝘥𝘢𝘤𝘩𝘦 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘮𝘶𝘴𝘤𝘭𝘦 𝘱𝘢𝘪𝘯.⁣

The Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine is a two-dose mRNA vaccine series with a 21 day interval between doses. It is required that patients wait 15 minutes after receiving the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine for a post-vaccination observation. Patients with a history of immediate allergic reaction of any severity to a vaccine or injectable therapy will require a 30 minute post-vaccination observation.⁣

Appointments are available during normal business hours for patients and their families. If you have received your first Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine elsewhere, we will be happy to complete the series for you. Please bring in your vaccine card that was given to you at your first dose.⁣

The American Academy of Pediatrics is warning parents and caregivers to keep high-powered magnetic balls and cubes away from children and teens. If more than one high-powered magnet is swallowed, they can attract each other and cause serious internal injuries or death.
