As we begin 2026 together, I extend my heartfelt gratitude for your continued support of Keiro and the older adults and caregivers we serve. This year marks a special milestone: Keiro’s 65th anniversary. As we reflect on this legacy, we remain focused on the path ahead.

Our work continues to expand as we look toward building a community where everyone, across generations, can live a healthier and more fulfilling life. This vision will guide us into the future, grounded in our shared values of dignity, connection, cultural understanding, and purpose.

On February 19th, Keiro hosted a Nikkei Senior Network (NSN) Convening. 32 community leaders of groups that support older adults and caregivers across Los Angeles and Orange counties gathered to connect with each other and learn about succession planning, advance planning, emergency preparedness, membership outreach, and transportation.

On Saturday, January 31, Keiro hosted its first Genki Living Workshops of 2026 at Tanaka Farms. Smiles were shining bright all day as guests picked their own strawberries and had a gardening lesson from UC Master Gardeners of Orange County on “Grow Food Anywhere”. We had fun in the sun with all of you and we hope to see you at our future Keiro events.

When considering caregiving services, people often focus on the financial and physical toll. However, there are usually misconceptions about the actual cost, and families are caught off guard when the care is actually needed. Care costs in California range from $23,400 to nearly $90,000 per year, depending on the type and level of support required. Families who plan ahead can compare options, gather required documentation, and prepare for the realities of caregiving.

Throughout 2025, Keiro focused on completing renovations of the Keiro Kikyo Home property. As is often the case with projects of this complexity, the timeline was extended while the team worked through construction requirements to ensure that every aspect of the home meets the standards we have set for safety, quality, and long-term sustainability.

Keiro is excited to announce that renovations are complete, and the property received building inspection clearance from the City of Torrance.

Genki Living Workshops: Gardening is this Saturday, January 31st at Tanka Farms! This event will be outdoors on a working farm, so here are some things to note:

🌤️ The weather forecast currently reports temperatures in the high 70s in Irvine, so please dress in light layers
🥾 Wear comfortable, closed-toe shoes, such as sturdy walking shoes or boots, that you do not mind getting dirty
💧 We will have refreshments onsite, but please feel free to bring your own water bottle
