UAII is growing with purpose. Our new Childcare & Resource Center in Palmdale is creating space for our little ones to learn, grow, and stay connected to culture from the very beginning.

We are talking affordable childcare, culturally rooted care, and real support for families. From early learning to wellness programs, speech therapy, behavioral health, and more, this space is built with community at the center.

This is more than childcare. This is healing, opportunity, and a place where our future generations are supported every step of the way.

UAII is grateful for the opportunity to visit the Central Council Tlingit & Haida Indian Tribes of Alaska office in Seattle last week.

Our conversation with President Peterson and Roald Helgensen highlighted how much we can accomplish when we work together. Stronger communities start with strong partnerships, and we’re excited for what’s ahead.

That strength lives in how you keep showing up, even when things feel heavy. In how you care for yourself, your family, and your community.

Stay grounded in who you are and where you come from.

STI Awareness Month and we’re keeping it real.

Avoiding the conversation does not protect your health. Getting tested is normal. Asking questions is normal. Taking care of yourself is power.

At UAII, we provide confidential, judgment free care rooted in community and culture. Whether you need testing, education, or just someone to talk to, we’re here for you.

Every month, UAII is on the ground at MacArthur Park providing essential support to our community—meals, water, pillows, and other basic necessities for those in need. We also bring our community clinic vans to help increase access to care and resources.

Rooted in care for our community. đź’›

Our Educational Fair brought together community and resources all in one space. From exploring career paths to connecting with programs that support your goals, this was about making the next step feel possible.

This is how we move forward together, by sharing knowledge and creating spaces where our community feels supported and seen. 🪶

Reading Indigenous authors is more than just picking up a book, it is learning history, holding truth, and seeing the world through a lens that has always been here

From stories of resilience to teachings about land, identity, and connection, these books remind us that knowledge is not one story, it is many voices

Today is a good day to slow down, pick something meaningful, and let it shift your perspective a little!

For generations, our communities have lived in relationship with the Earth, not separate from it. It’s in the way we respect water, honor plants, and move with intention through our spaces, even in the middle of the city.

Earth Day is more than a reminder. It’s a practice. Checking in with how we treat the land, how we show gratitude, and how we carry those teachings forward. ❤️🌎🪶

Today was powerful. Indigenous health is not simply the absence of illness—it is a holistic state of balance. True wellness requires reconnecting ancestral knowledge with healthcare delivery. Incorporating Indigenous knowledge must be the norm, not an optional consideration.

Indigenous healthcare is sovereignty. It is an expression of our inherent right to define our own systems of wellness, grounded in culture, land, and community.

There is a clear distinction between public policy and Indigenous policy. Yet the current Indian Health system continues to operate within a punitive, compliance‑driven framework that stands in direct conflict with Article 24 of the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples.

Our first Garden Workshop was a beautiful start. Community came through ready to learn, connect, and get their hands in the soil. We introduced Native plants and walked through the basics like soil types, sunlight, and how to care for what you grow, all rooted in knowledge that’s been passed down for generations.
