We made it to (AND !) 🤩 Of the 6,700 calls UMCR responded to mentioned in this article, Alcott’s teams were involved with more than 40%! We’re also proud to be the only nonprofit operating within both LA City unarmed crisis teams here, UMCR and CIRCLE.

Have you noticed our new logo? 👀 This month, we introduced a fresh brand look and celebrated its launch with a staff event at Lucky Strike. Not only did we discover some expert bowlers among our team, but we also honored staff, both new and longtime, and recognized work anniversaries of up to 25 years!

Thank you to all the wonderful Alcott staff who make our work possible! We can’t wait to share more about what we’ve been up to in our annual report next month—stay tuned! 💚

Thank you so much to everyone who helped make our Unarmed Crisis Response Drive a success!!! Everything is being passed along to our first responders to distribute in the field and we’re left feeling overwhelmed with gratitude for our generous community. 💚 An extra special thank you to and as well for serving as drop off locations!

Joshua serves as a Case Manager for Alcott’s ODR program, serving community members who are navigating a combination of mental health, justice-involved, and often housing challenges. We asked Joshua what he wished more people new about the type work he does. Read his response below:

“I think a lot of people see our clients as being dependent on our program. I want to reorient that understanding: Each of our clients have their own personal success stories that they’re working on in their own personal lives, and we’re supporting them to fulfill their own personal goals. I wish there was less of a stigma on a societal level about our clients.”

A huge thank you to everyone who has already supported our Unarmed Crisis Drive! We’ve already received 5 bags of supplies at our office alone, all of which will be redistributed back into the community by our unarmed crisis teams. 💚

There’s still 4 more days to participate! Purchase items off our wishlist, make a donation, or drop off supplies at any of our three drop off locations.

Our unarmed crisis teams need your support! These mental health professionals serve as first responders to diverted nonviolent 911 calls, providing homeless outreach and supporting individuals who may be experiencing a public mental health crisis.

We’re hosting a drive to make sure these teams have supplies to distribute as they’re out in the community.

Not only are you able to participate virtually (link in our bio!) but and have graciously offered to serve as secondary drop off locations! See the specific hours for each drop off location above.

Mental Health Awareness Month was established in 1949 to increase awareness of the importance of mental health and wellness, and to celebrate recovery from mental illness. 30 years later, the Alcott Center was founded with nearly the same goal: to enhance the quality of life and empower individuals facing mental health challenges as they transition towards wellness. This month and every month, our team is dedicated to removing barriers and ensuring that all individuals have access to the mental health support they need.

Happy Mental Health Awareness Month! 💚

This month-long celebration highlights the often-overlooked accomplishments of women in various fields, including science, politics, art, and social justice. It serves as a reminder of the struggles women have faced in the fight for equality and recognition. We would like to take this opportunity to honor, thank and reflect on the contributions women continue to make in our society. A big of part of Alcott’s workforce is women, we would like to thank them for their dedication to helping others experiencing mental health and housing challenges improve their lives.
