Are you a fan of The Pitt? The staff at OVMC definitely is!

Yesterday marked our first Olive View(ing) - a space we have created for our teams to come together, reflect, and have deeper conversations about healthcare through the lens of real-world storytelling.

Using Season 1, Episode 3 of The Pitt, we explored challenges we see every day: language access, patient experience, balancing compassion with efficiency, and how we support the next generation of clinicians.

Why does this matter? Because these conversations help us better serve YOU our patients, families, and community. Everyone deserves care that is compassionate, respectful, and inclusive.
Behind every patient is a story, and every story deserves respect, understanding, and care.

This week we welcomed the next generation of healthcare professionals to Olive View–UCLA Medical Center.

Students from Sylmar Biotech, San Fernando High School, and Vaughn International Studies Academy joined us for High School Career Day. Students toured the hospital, connected with professionals across departments, and participated in a hands-on Skills Lab where they learned practical clinical skills like taking blood pressure, performing basic exams, and using ultrasound technology.

Students also learned about Narcan and how it can save lives during an opioid overdose, highlighting the importance of education and community health.

Thank you to all the staff, physicians, and residents who helped inspire the next generation of healthcare professionals. The future of healthcare is bright! 🩺

Patient safety is not just one department’s responsibility, it’s a shared commitment across an entire hospital.

It takes physicians, nurses, pharmacists, social workers, and support staff working together to create a culture where safety comes first.

This Patient Safety Awareness Week, we recognize the incredible Patient Safety team at Olive View–UCLA Medical Center for their leadership in building safer systems, encouraging transparency, and supporting staff in delivering the best care possible.

Together, we continue to learn, improve, and put our patients first.
