❄️🌸🌳🍁SEASONS 👆🏻FINGER 🎨
———
We are yearning for Spring 🌸 ? We do and conversations about seasonal change inevitably spark off! So, here is a 🖐🏻 HANDS-ON way [literally 😜] to discuss seasons! Or if you live in an area with no seasonal change, you can bring Seasons to life with this super fun craft!

And messy not so messy form of art is creative, education, and amazing to develop fine motor control and dexterity!

YOU’ll NEED:
- a Season 🌳Tree 📥printout
- 🎨paints (glitter is optional)
- little 👆🏻hands

❄️ for winter, feel free to substitute blue/white paints just for white

SKILLs ✅:
-🖐🏻 hand 👁 eye coordination
- fine motor control
- learning through play while fostering imagination and creativity
——
AGE 1 Y+ ⚠️Always supervise your child!

💡Messy play like finger painting is very important for early childhood development since it helps the body and brain to integrate tactile information in a creative way. Process art is perfect for little artists since the focus lies in the creation of the work, not the outcome! During this fun artistic process, your child learns how colors work, especially color mixing, while developing spatial awareness and sensory integration. And it’s FUN!!!

🧻DIY🍀 SPINDLES
••••••••••••••
Montessori materials can be expensive that’s why I try to show as many DIY options as possible! Spindles, for example, are one of the very first math materials a child is introduced to at about 2 years of age. To make DIY spindles

YOU’ll NEED:
- recycle ♻️ 🧻TPR
- craft sticks
- ☘️stickers (I am using a clover 🍀 puncher)
- hot glue gun

SKILLs:
-🖐🏻 hand 👁 eye coordination
-fine motor control
-number recognition
-1:1 correspondence
——
AGE 2Y+ ⚠️Always supervise your child!

•••••••••••
💡 GOAL: 1:1 correspondence ~ Which is the ability to match an object (☘️) to the corresponding number and recognize👆🏻 that a number is merely a symbol to represent that quantity! Young children often learn “rote counting” without having an understanding of 1 :1😮 They learn to count till 10 just like a heart-learned poem! So, have them 🙌🏻TOUCH & COUNT 🔈ALOUD each ☘️stick as they place them in 🧻TPR, matching to its corresponding numeral.

👟 LACING 🥚♻️DIY
Ok, my friends! Who is 😤tired of having to purchase a new pair of 👟 sneakers more often than we ever afford to buy 👠 shoes for ourselves😜! And, every time you see an unbelievable sale🤩, they HAVE LACES! So, I am officially done being ripped off for my son not being able to tie shoe-laces, and this DIY was born when I went for the SALE and for shoelaces! And although Montessori lacing frames are beautiful and wooden, they are EXPENSIVE! So why spend money 💵 when you can turn recyclable into a DIY!

And believe me, it is MUCH MORE fun tying an 🥚 egg carton than sneakers!

HOW: 👉🏻
1️⃣Place ♻️recycled egg carton in an ♨️oven at low 250 for 15 min. This will kill any salmonella or eColi that might reside inside the carton.

2️⃣Then, find colorful laces (its always more fun with color) and come up with different lacing, and bow tying combinations!

Who is with me? Tag me! I would love to see what you are coming up with!

SKILLs:
-🖐🏻 hand 👁 eye coordination
- 👌🏻fine motor control
- dexterity & bilateral coordination
——
AGE 4Y+ ⚠️Always supervise your child!

From birth till about six years of age, children have a very SENSORIAL relationship with their 🌎 world. Anything that is perceived through senses goes directly into their 🧠 brain!

How to set up your sensory bin:
- have a tray to contain your filler and to minimize the cleanup (you can also lay a large mat or even a bed sheet under your tray to catch the spills)
- choose your sensory filler (be mindful if your little one is still mouthing things then choose taste safe filler)
- choose your 🐸 actors -they give purpose to children age 2 and plus
- offer tools

LEARN THROUGH PLAY!

What is your favorite Sensory filler❓
