It’s okay to have fear.
But fear doesn’t get the final word.
Balance the scary thoughts with truth.
Challenge the fear. Find the facts.
Then speak power over your birth.

Exhaustion is normal.
Mood swings are common.
But when it starts to feel heavier than that — it might be more than “baby blues.”

Postpartum mood disorders are real, and they’re more common than people think.
You’re not alone, and you don’t have to push through it alone either.

There is help. There is healing.

Your Lactation Consultant

Yasmin Dera is a native Angelino, mother of two, an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC), Postnatal Doula, and Perinatal Wellness Consultant. Over the last twelve years, Yasmin has had the privilege to educate, support and inspire thousands of families, in the US and abroad. She provides lactation services to a full spectrum of families in support of their breastfeeding goals; within private homes, hospitals, birth and pediatric centers.

Prior to becoming a mother and birth worker, Yasmin was the Assistant Director of Academic Advising at Mount St. Mary’s University, then a Program Coordinator for a local non-profit working to reduce Black Infant Mortality. Yasmin’s soothing voice and her ability to honor parental concerns while offering professional insight is golden, especially during high stress and intimate transitions; whether with parents of newborns or young adults.

Shortly after Yasmin gave birth to her oldest, she realized her desire to become a doula, then lactation consultant. She noticed some of the most beautiful, yet vulnerable and challenging times were during the postnatal period. Breastfeeding, like pregnancy and birth are natural processes, but often require additional skills and compassionate support. Yasmin intrinsically understands the challenges of breastfeeding and the sometimes limited, after birth care. She like many new moms experienced complications in the early days and gracefully accepted nurturing from her community. Her experiences fueled her desire and passion to deepen her work with families.

In addition, Yasmin uses the wisdom and skills from her international education/training to offer therapies that nurture and honor the new mother. After a enriching lactation consultation, a mother may receive an ab-press, belly binding, V-Steam along with a nourishing meal, and a crown of flowers to honor her journey. Afterbirth Restorative Therapies (A.R.T.) not only leaves a new mother with a greater sense of well-being; she is in a state of bliss, better to care for herself and her new baby.
