The charioteer’s right, or active hand, is holding the MAGICIAN’S wand (notice also that he is not holding reigns; he is ultimately not in control of the whole journey, only his part in manifesting the destination). The six-pointed star crown and stars along the tapestry above him indicate his faith and strong connection with divine guidance in navigating the path. The chakra associated with Cancer is the third eye, and Cancers are known for being rather intuitive. He has crescent moons on his shoulders—one has a smiling face, while the other looks upset. Cancers are ruled by the moon and therefore can be quite moody, and also tend to carry the emotional weight of others on their shoulders. We can assume that these emotions are influencing and possibly interfering with his decision and manifestation.

The Sphinxes, symbols of mystery and ancient wisdom, are leading the chariot, but are currently in repose. The journey is about to begin, but the driver must prepare himself emotionally, mentally, and spiritually in order to choose the clearest path in manifesting his destiny, and to awaken the sphinxes through the senses. One Sphinx is black and the other white, the reoccurring symbol of the duality that is constantly within and around us (the physical/spiritual realm, the conscious/subconscious, etc). The main message of this card is that of balance, particularly between the head and the heart. If one overrides the other, you’ll certainly veer off course. 🎠🌊🦀♋️
