🔶Do you know the difference between a midwife and OB/GYN? Let’s discuss! 🗣
🔴What’s a midwife?
▪️ A midwife is a trained health professional who supports healthy women during labor, delivery and the postpartum period. Midwives can deliver babies at birth centers or at home, and most of them can also deliver babies 👶🏼 at a hospital 🏥
🔴What’s an OB/GYN?
◽️ An Obstetrician-gynecologist or OB/GYN is a doctor who specializes in pregnancy, childbirth, and disorders of the woman’s reproductive system. Obstetricians are trained to manage and treat pregnancy complications. They work at hospitals and must work within their hospital’s policies 🔲What’s the difference?
▪️ An OB/GYN is a doctor who completed, in general, four years of medical school and specializes in obstetrics and gynecology. OB/GYNs always work at hospitals and they can do surgery.
▫️A midwife is not a doctor, but someone who successfully completes a graduate program in midwifery. The most common type of midwife is the Certified Nurse Midwife. They are registered nurses who have graduated from an accredited midwifery education
🟡🔴🟡 What should you choose?
▪️ Midwives are not allowed to attend to high-risk pregnancies, as OBGYN doctors are. Sometimes, it is possible to have both.🤝🧡

📍Do you have a headache or migraine that worsens during your period?
📌 Fluctuating hormones during your menstrual cycle can bring about many changes. And like some women, you may deal with headaches during this time of the month
📌 Different types of headaches can happen around your period. One type is a tension headache — often caused by stress — that feels like a tight band around your forehead. Or you may develop a headache after your period due to blood loss and a drop in your iron level
📌 But among the different types of headaches that can occur during your period, a hormonal headache and a menstrual migraine seem to be the most common. The underlying cause is the same for both, yet their symptoms vary
📍 treatment
🟥 Medications to stop pain and inflammation include:
🔺ibuprofen
🔺naproxen sodium
🔺aspirin
🔺acetaminophen
🔷🔶WHAT TO DO
✖️ You can self-treat with over-the-counter medications and home remedies. If your symptoms worsen or don’t improve, see Dr. Kashanchi to discuss other alternatives

Hello all! Here are a few tips to remain informed, but calm during this pandemic.
📍What is It?
🟥 A new coronavirus was first reported in Wuhan, China, on December 31, 2019. This new virus presents particular dangers: there is no known pre-immunity, no vaccine, and no specific treatment. The virus is contagious, and everyone is presumed to be susceptible.
📍What can we do?
🟥Just because we’re staying home, doesn’t mean it is easy. It is important to take care of one another, and keep in touch for support
📍To whom do we offer support to?
🟥How you respond to the outbreak can depend on your background, the things that make you different from other people, and the community you live in
📍Needs help? Know someone who does?
🟥 If you, or someone you care about, are feeling overwhelmed with emotions like sadness, depression, or anxiety, or feel like you want to harm yourself or others:
📌Call 911
📌Visit the Disaster Distress or call 1-800-985-5990
📍 Call your healthcare provider if stress gets in the way of your daily activities for several days in a row
📍People with preexisting mental health conditions should continue with their treatment and be aware of new or worsening symptoms
