The link between obesity and cancer is not entirely clear for diabetes and heart disease. This is due in part to the fact that cancer is not a single disease but a collection of individual diseases.
In a data exhaustion review, released in 2007, an expert panel assembled by the World Cancer Research Fund and the American Institute for Cancer Research concluded that there was compelling evidence. of a link between obesity and cancers of the esophagus, pancreas, colon and re**um, breast, endocrine and kidney and a possible link between obesity and gallbladder cancer. Abdominal obesity and weight gain in adulthood have also been linked to some cancers. A systematic review and meta-analysis confirmed a direct link between obesity and cancers of the breast, colon and re**um, endocrine, esophagus, kidney, o***y, and pancreas. Encouragingly, the Nurses' Health Study found that for overweight women who had never used hormone replacement therapy, postmenopausal weight loss—and postmenopausal weight loss—helped. halve the risk after menopause
