Consistency with personal values as part of couples’ relationship:

Healthy s*xuality aligns with individuals' personal values and beliefs, honoring their unique identities and perspectives. This involves exploring and expressing one's s*xuality in a way that feels authentic and meaningful, while also respecting the values of others. In couples therapy, I encourage partners to engage in open and honest communication about their values, preferences, and boundaries, ensuring that their s*xual experiences are aligned with their personal beliefs. By prioritizing consistency with personal values, individuals can cultivate a sense of integrity and self-respect in their s*xual relationships, fostering a deeper sense of connection and fulfillment.

If you feel the desire to explore your personal values, and their impact on your intimate relationship as well as your s*xual experiences, consider seeking support from a therapist. Together, we can work towards a more fulfilling intimate experience.

Our s*xuality is influenced by our biology, psychology, and environment, including the culture we belong to. As s*x therapists, we must aim to understand how men and women perceive themselves s*xually, considering these factors. This is especially important for couples from non-western cultures, where s*xual education and awareness, especially for women, may be limited.
By exploring how these elements shape our s*xual identities, couples can communicate and share their personal thoughts and beliefs.
This journey towards mutual understanding lays the groundwork for cultivating a shared intimacy—a connection that we've noticed to be absent in many relationships.
If you feel the desire to explore your s*xuality but are held back by a lack of resources or discomfort, consider seeking support from a therapist. Together, we can work towards a more fulfilling s*xual experience.

In many cultures, the topic of s*xual education remains hidden in silence, primarily for women. This lack of information and discussion leaves these groups of women ill-equipped to advocate for themselves in matters of s*xual health and relationships. Without comprehensive s*xual education and freedom of expression, women are often deprived of essential knowledge about their bodies, consent, and reproductive health, making them vulnerable to exploitation and abuse. It's imperative that we recognize this gap and work towards bridging it through culturally sensitive and inclusive s*xual education initiatives. Empowering women with knowledge and agency in matters of s*xuality not only enhances their individual well-being but also contributes to the advancement of gender equality and societal progress. Much more work remains to be done in this critical area to ensure that women from collectivistic cultures have access to the education and resources they need to advocate for themselves and lead fulfilling lives.
Do you feel the need to explore your s*xuality but don’t have the resources and/or don’t feel comfortable doing so?

Sexual power encompasses both the conscious and subconscious deployment of our s*xuality with the aim of achieving specific objectives. Its application can range from benevolent to malevolent. Acting in a benevolent manner entails seeking the highest good for both one’s self and one's partner. Conversely, utilizing s*xual power without consideration for our partner's boundaries, desires, and enjoyment leads to its misuse. This misuse often generates subconscious, and occasionally conscious, resentment within our partner. This resentment may manifest in various forms, including refusal to engage in s*xual activities within the relationship.
For genuine intimacy to flourish in a relationship, individuals must perceive themselves as equals in both personal and s*xual domains. In this harmonious dynamic, there exists no power struggle; rather, each person's emotions and needs, whether related to s*xuality or not, can be openly communicated, acknowledged, and respected, even when they differ significantly. In such circumstances, there's no conscious or subconscious tallying of debts or obligations between partners.

10 simple tips for improving any relationship

“No man is an island”, said John Donne. What he meant was that we come to this world as a result of a relationship, and when we are born, we are only able to survive as a result of being within a relationship. When it comes to relationships, you, and everyone you know are like diamonds, since we are all multi-faceted. To nurture any relationship, we must begin with a foundation of goodwill, in which both people desire the best for each other, not just for themselves. I am delighted to announce the publication of our new e-book: Interpersonal Sexual Skills.

Our s*xuality is one of the most important aspects of ourselves, and we become aware of it very early in life, initially by identifying our gender differences. As we grow up, most people identify as either male or female. Some people, whose s*xuality is not so black and white, may have mixed feelings and beliefs about which body they are born into, however, the fact that we are all s*xual beings is undeniable. To a large extent it is our s*xual attitudes and beliefs that shape our s*xual-selves, and ultimately shapes our choice of our intimate relationships.
