What are your favorite Yamas and Niyamas?
I spend quite a good time taking care of the cleanliness of my environment, the house where I live and the place where I practice.
It feels like energetically clearing all other areas of my life š§¹ š§¹ š§¹
Shaucha or Sauca is one of my favorite Niyamas, it means purity, order and clearness. It refers to the purity of mind, body and speech, but to the environment around us as well.
I personally feel more relaxed and energized when the house is clean and organized and I enjoy cleaning it, not only because I know I will feel better afterwards, but the process of cleaning itself feels like a meditation.
In the body Sauca means to cultivate physical exercise and breathing techniques, eat fresh and clean food, so to avoid the building of toxins in our bodies.
For the mind we practice it by avoiding negative thoughts, having clear intentions and mindfulness to keep our mind pure.
For the speech it means to speak with clarity, honesty and care...
..we are what we speak, what we think, what we eat...
It is important that all of these things are done with attention, consciousness and knowledge.
It requires effort, training and discipline, of course, but many are the benefits for our inner peace, balance, empowerment, personal growth and flourishing š·
