As we celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month, we will be highlighting our amazing team and why their work means so much to them and our community.
Meet Rosa Parag. In her words:
"As we celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month, I can’t help but reflect on where my passion for serving my community began.
Growing up as the second oldest of six, I became my parents’ “assistant” in navigating not just the healthcare system, but also the educational and other complex systems that weren’t designed with families like mine in mind. From translating and interpreting, to scheduling appointments and completing forms—I learned early on the importance of advocacy. And to this day, I still proudly support my parents in these ways.
My heart for helping others also comes from my maternal grandmother, whose kindness and dedication to the less fortunate showed me that true strength is found in service.
Now, as a mom of three, I strive to pass on those same values, guiding my children to understand the importance of compassion and helping those without the same privileges.
That’s why I’m so proud to work at Zócalo Health as the Community Engagement Manager. In this role, I get to grow my passion for helping our communities by meeting people where they are—bringing our services into spaces where they feel safe, supported, and truly seen.
For me, this is more than a career, it’s a calling. It’s about carrying on my family’s legacy, honoring our heritage, and building healthier, more equitable futures for the generations to come. "
