Our hearts are heavy with deep compassion and sadness after seeing this new data from the . These statistics are devastating—but there is hope. This trend can change through building awareness and getting screened.
Colonoscopies aren’t as scary as you might think, and they can quite literally save your life. We’re adults—we can do hard things, especially when they help prevent cancer. 💪🏻❤️🩹
My husband was diagnosed with stage IIIc colorectal cancer with vein invasion and significant lymph node involvement at just 36 years old. His colonoscopy helped save his life—and it was nothing compared to what he’s endured since.
Soon after ’s diagnosis one of our sons was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis after experiencing recurrent blood in his stool and underwent a colonoscopy at just three years old. If he can do it as a toddler we can do it too. ❤️🩹
I’ve personally had 20 polyps removed, many precancerous, after early screenings. I’m young. I’m healthy. And still—my body creates polyps in abundance.
No one is immune.
Routine, preventative colonoscopies now begin at age 45. However, please talk to your doctor about getting screened sooner if you have any of the following:
▪️ A family history of colorectal cancer or advanced polyps
▪️ IBD (ulcerative colitis or Crohn’s disease)
▪️ Lynch syndrome or familial adenomatous polyposis
▪️ Any symptoms, including blood in your stool (this always warrants a colonoscopy), abdominal pain, changes in bowel habits lasting more than two weeks, fatigue, pencil-thin stools, weight loss, or the sensation of incomplete emptying
These symptoms can be caused by benign conditions—but they must be investigated.
Every single moment of this beautiful life is worth the temporary discomfort of getting screened. Please share to help spread awareness and reverse this trend. 🫶🏻💙
