A new study found that ultra-processed foods are linked to a 45% higher risk of colon cancer in women as they can disrupt the balance of “good” and “bad” microbes in the gut.

Did you know bloating can happen simply from swallowing too much air?

Eating too fast, chewing gum, carbonated drinks, talking while eating, or even anxiety can lead to excess air getting trapped in your stomach.

If your bloating comes and goes quickly, air might be the culprit—not food.
Breathe, slow down, and chew/sip mindfully. 🩵

“I had a huge 2 cm polyp.... Luckily it was removed because I would have had colon cancer at 45.” — Dr. Zuri Murrell , Colorectal Surgeon

Dr. Murrell chose to get a colonoscopy at age 42, before the recommended screening age. He believes that decision prevented a cancer diagnosis.

Patients deserve the power to decide when they are screened, especially if there is a family history or symptoms. Waiting until 45 could be too late.

Early action saves lives.

In a study published in JAMA found that ultraprocessed foods — which have increased in our diets over the decades — may be playing a role in the climbing rates of colorectal cancer among people under 50.

From 1991 to 2015, researchers followed more than 29,000 female nurses in their 20s, 30s and 40s. Those who ate more ultraprocessed foods had higher risks of developing precancerous colorectal polyps — abnormal clumps of cells that grow in the colon or re**um and can develop into cancer — before they turned 50 compared with those who consumed fewer.
