🌿 March on the Trail

So many meaningful moments this month — from a refreshing Malibu waterfall hike that gave us a forest‑bathing experience to a grounding morning with the Palos Verdes Peninsula Chamber of Commerce PVP Young Professionals Group.

We also shared Lisa’s inspiring wellness journey in this month’s HikeWise. Her story is a beautiful reminder of what steady, consistent steps can create.

Such a great way to start the week with the PV Young Professionals Group Hike! 🌿🥾

I really enjoyed partnering with the Palos Verdes Peninsula Chamber of Commerce to bring this together. So grateful to everyone who joined. It was a wonderful opportunity to get to know one another in a relaxed outdoor setting. We even had a few K9 hikers join us, adding a pawsome touch to the experience. 🐾

Hello March, you’re gorgeous! 🌿

People often ask me what my favorite hike is, and honestly, I don’t have one. I simply love trails. Even a photo of a winding path can instantly make me excited to get outside, so choosing a single favorite feels impossible.

Last weekend I returned to one of my local Malibu favorites, and early spring is the best time to explore it. The light, the air, the energy, everything feels a little more alive right now.

For those who enjoy the details:
Level: Trail Scout B
Dist: 4.5 miles
Elev Gain: 725 ft
Difficulty: Moderate

I am sharing a highlight from the morning. If you need a midday reset, take a little break and walk with me for a bit. Imagine the gentle scent of lilac in the air and a light, cool breeze on your face.

Here’s to more mindful miles and more nature as we move into spring. 🌱🥾

Last group hike of February ☀️

You wouldn’t know it with the heat wave we had… it hit 88° by the coast before 11 AM! But that view though, absolutely worth it. The trail gave us blue skies, ocean sparkle, and a whole lot of sweat. Ha.

Great job, ladies. You showed up, stayed steady in the heat, and brought so much positivity to the morning. It was such a strong way to close out the month. 🌿💛

The trail had a different plan for us this weekend...

The plan was to take a 4.9‑mile scenic route through Wildwood in Thousand Oaks, but the park was temporarily closed due to recent rainstorms. Since the park was still closed the day before, I put together a new plan that still supported everyone’s training.

Two clients are preparing for big adventures: Machu Picchu and the Dolomites, so I mapped out a conditioning course instead.

We ended up with beautiful hiking weather in the upper 40s–50s, and the trail conditions were perfect. What started as a detour turned into exactly the kind of day we needed. Isn’t it always the case? ✨

They showed up with so much heart. They logged 7.5 miles and 1,400 ft of gain, finishing happily exhausted and energized. I’m so proud of them. 🥲💓

I love this reminder because it’s exactly what hiking teaches me again and again. I don’t have to feel ready or brave. I just take the next step, and then the next one, and suddenly I’m standing somewhere I once thought was out of reach.

The trail has a way of showing me what I’m capable of, gently and honestly, and those lessons follow me long after I leave the trailhead.

This picture was taken on Mt. Baldy in 2018. I love how Xena used to stop and admire the view on our adventures. She always reminded me to pause, breathe, and take in the moment.

What a morning. Yesterday’s Hiking Into Mindfulness gave us crisp air, sunshine, and the perfect setting to slow down and reconnect.

Thank you to everyone who came out for this peaceful experience. And a special shoutout to Dan Pfister from Path Ignited for guiding two grounding meditation sessions and sharing simple practices our HGwD community can use anytime.

I’m already looking forward to joining forces again for another meaningful morning on the trail.

Sharing a little recap reel with moments from the trail. 🌿✨

Did you know that not all trails are dog-friendly? When you are hiking with a dog, it is not as simple as just pick a trail and go. You need to research beforehand to make sure your pup can join you. I create a comprehensive hiking guide with trail stats after each new hike so you can be prepared. Unless noted, you can be sure that all trail write-ups on our blog are dog-friendly. I share our adventure stories with quality photos. I hope you find the blog inspirational and motivational. Since you found our page, you must love dogs, outdoors and adventures as much as we do! And if you don’t, well, our photos might just convert you!

Hope our adventures inspire more people to get out and adventure with their pups and experience the joy of outdoors.
