Six planets align today as the Perseids blaze through the morning sky!
Step outside an hour before sunrise and you’ll see a rare cosmic parade – six planets lined up in the pre-dawn horizon. Mercury, Venus, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune are putting on a planetary alignment that won’t return until February 2026.
Four of them – Mercury, Venus, Jupiter, and Saturn – shine brightly to the naked eye. Uranus and Neptune linger farther out, waiting to be spotted with binoculars or a telescope.
The lineup is also sharing the stage with another star attraction: the Perseid meteor shower. Even before its August 12–13 peak, dozens of meteors are flashing overhead every hour – quick, brilliant streaks tearing through the planet-filled sky. At the peak, that number could soar to 100 an hour in one of the year’s most breathtaking sky events.
