Did you know that more than 63 million Americans provide care to a loved one, and 59 million of them are caring for adults? That’s nearly 1 in 4 people balancing caregiving with jobs, families, and other responsibilities.
They need support.
This year’s theme, “Plug-In to Care,” focuses on connection and helping caregivers easily plug into the tools, networks, and resources that make the caregiving journey less overwhelming and more supported.
Technology can play a big role in that. Not just for caregivers, but for the older adults they care for. Still, many worry it might add to their workload if their loved ones need help using devices or apps.
It doesn’t have to be that way. With the right guidance and support, older adults can become confident tech users. Whether it’s video calling, online health portals, or smart home devices, digital literacy helps them stay connected, manage daily tasks, and maintain independence. That confidence lightens the caregiver’s load and strengthens well-being for both.
Research backs this up. Most caregivers say technology helps reduce caregiving burdens (63%), improve communication (61%), and enhance quality of life (59%) for those they support.
